It's been a while since I posted, but that Act 2 video has cleansed me of any doubt this game's excellence. The amount of freshness far outweighs any possible complaints I could have about the level being Green Hill, personally. I LOVE how the fire shield can burn things in the environment (a genius way to give incentive to elemental shields that may not seem conventional given the water). God I just want a demo of this game so I can play it endlessly.
If all other classic levels that appear in Mania receive this same level of treatment (with news things and new background), I will be speechless. Amazing job there.
I really love the look of GHZ Act 2. Having areas that can be accessed only if you have a specific shield is such a neat idea, and I'm really excited about the possibilities it opens up. That tease though lol. They knew we all were going to get exciting thinking it was Metal Sonic, and then it's just a new badnik design.
I can't get over the amount of effort that they put into this game. It has been ages since there was a Sonic game that had this much love put into it. I feel Generations was the closest to achieve this, but other than Generations I really can't think of any examples. This game is looking absolutely amazing. If this keeps up, it could even be my Game Of The Year, maybe the best Sonic game I've played in years. I never thought I'd see a game like this become a reality. Yet here it is.

I'm reminded of the TAS of the first Sonic game. Seeing speedruns of this game with Badnik chaining is going to be wild.
