Hi all. Well, I thought I'd give a little preview of a hack I've been working on, simply titled, Keen in Sonic. It's main goal will eventually be to create a Commander Keen game out of Sonic 1, so I can play a form of Keen game on my Tapwave Zodiac/other palm devices without porting clonekeen. I haven't really worked on this in a long time, but I finally got around to copying my disassembly to my Mac with VMware on it, and I will start again soon. This is a song I ported over to Sonic, c&c are highly appreciated as it is the first one that I have ever released. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xXs_ybx64c There is another song on my profile, albeit it isn't that great. The instrumentation on it needs some work, so hopefully I can get around to that soon. =P Features already implemented include: -Fixed running physics to match keen's. -New Sonic sprites. (Keen 4's) -Some new songs. (Well, new for the Genesis, but they're from keen) -A few new levels have new art already (From Keen 4 mainly) -I'm changing the aspect view of the game to match that of Keen 4-6's. -Working on shooting and pogoing. (ASM is a wee bit hard for me at this point.) -New level layouts. I know there's more I can't remember, but I have a headache from working all day and need to go get some sleep. :v: Comments and criticism are highly welcomed.
I wouldn't call the drums bad by any means, but they sure don't complement some of the other songs too well (such as Invincibility, or especially the Level Clear music).
I love his snare drum. However you should fix that bug which plays the song from GHZ1 (I guess) when you beat the boss.
I'm looking to replace them soon, I'll have a vgm later to show these new drums. But yeah, I'm keeping the Snare drum, and I need to update the boss code, as it's using an old definition. >.<
The notes in the main melody hold for too long but otherwise almost sounds like the original. Doesn't fit the level at all though, especially just being green hill with a different layout :p
I can't help but disagree. All my songs are known to have a perfect timing. And I have proof! Left channel = my version Right channel = original version I don't know how many other conversions can be overlayed like that. If I convert a song I convert it right, thank you very much.
It feels like I hear very small differences in how the notes come in between the two. Doesn't sound 100% to me in any case. But that's just me. Really though, no need to give someone that sort of attitude just because you converted a song :/
