Yeah, this does seem to be a problem, but it's not too bad in game while moving. It's just that AIZ1 uses one palette line for both the foreground and background greens, which is why it blends and if I vary MGZ1's palette too much, I have a risk of ruining Act2, seeing as it uses the same palettes.
Thanks for the comments guys. Now, onto something I'd like to share with you all... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmnCDiIRri8 A video of me going through the new layouts of Angel Island Zone Act 1.5 (After the bombing) and Act 2. I haven't got a new palette for this part yet, but I'm limited with what I can do, so I'll come up with something at some point. I also apologize for the bad video quality. As usual, C&C is always appreciated. Enjoy.
Nice job putting up a new layout. Nice alternate paths and good platforming. I didn't really have the patience to edit a level like AIZ, from what I remember (it's been a while since I hacked s3k =P)
Where are the special stage rings? One of the nice things about S3 is are the nicely placed Special Stage Rings. Overall though, I liked your use of the redwoods and the new bustable walls.
I only took one route out of the 2 main ones, not including any subpaths. There are Special Stage rings in there, with new special stage layouts as well. I just didn't show them. I'll possibly show them in the future, but if I did it would ruin the suprise... :v:
Well, we don't see so much hacks with layouts that good, so... Congrats! You really kept the feeling of the sonic 3kn gameplay, and made a layout that could have been in a real sonic game. Not just a straight path as we're used to see in some hacks.
They're there alright. And these new special stages are very fresh indeed. Jay likes this. (Apologies to D.A.Garden for 'leaked info' but this shit is awesome :D)
The first one remember's me of when the Island in crysis started frozen over ^^ The second one is full of win I must say :3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEEbawmEfGY Here is a little something that I like to share. It allow me to change sound drivers to S3 or back to s2. Sound test 00 or 01 for s3 driver and press b. Sound test 80 for s2 driver and press b. Listen to sounds, press C.
Why do most people know how to hack Sonic games but don't know how to record them? :v: I would totally play that hack if the music in the video is implemented in the ROM. I actually really like the Sonic sprite for some reason.
Kega video wasn't working so well. I may indeed use the sonic 2 MP3 tool and have a ska soundtrack =P and the sprite is just a new pallette. EDIT: also, should I keep going with EHZ? y/n?
Use Gens (if it's working with the hack). As for the image, why is everything dark except the badniks?
It all needs work, under the grass needs better shading, the ground tiles look too flat, and the grass is a bit ugly (the palette and art that is) . Background is also a bit repetitive. What are you using to do this? SonED2? If so, contact me through msn sometime. I can help you fix the scrolling issue on the bottom of the screen.
I might just leave it, then, since every hack ever has a GHZ/EHZ edit, I can pretend to be original =P also, I'm using the first SonEd, and EsE II.
This is interesting. I don't think I've seen something like this in a hack before, though no doubt someone with a Green member group is about to pop up and say otherwise =P
