Anyone else think we should start making our hacks more accessible to non English speakers? I sure do. I chose Portuguese and Russian because from my perspective, Brazil and Russia are the 2 largest non English speaking countries that consume Sonic ROM hacks, if not seeking them out intentionally, then because hacks get bootlegged (Let's not forget the Russian physical release of Sonic Megamix) and I'd love for most who play this to be able to understand it! After 2 weeks of just cleaning up my disassembly and adding fancy menus, and generally fixing insignificant bugs, I've finally added the actual gimmick of my hack. Yes, it's choppy, that's to reduce ROM size and I intend to interpolate the data so it'll look smoother in the final release. But this is what my research on the Everdrive X7's USB port has been leading up to!
Been a minute, here's what's been done since you've last seen this hack. Metal Sonic now has a death state, which the camera will pan over to show you upon winning. And there's now a countdown before the level starts so you can get ready. Of course with Portuguese and Russian translations too. And for CHEATERS there's options for removing the speed caps, and add the spindash and drop dash. But using these will STAIN your time records as is deserved for SCUM.

So, there was a problem with my hack. While on a technical level it was interesting in how I recorded Metal Sonic's data, it wasn't necessarily fun to play. Effectively, Metal Sonic was just a fixed countdown timer. You would get the same experience out of playing Sonic 1 Mega Play. So I fixed that! You can attack Metal Sonic to slow him down for a couple seconds, and he can randomly speed up and attack you!

You use incorrect words and ugly font. for russsian speaker it's looks like "Mode Maratjohn" "Fast to play" "Record' I" (ы is one letter in modern russian, not ь+i) "Variants" "Credits [in bank]"" You must use this words: "Марафон" or "Забег" "Быстрая игра" "Таблица рекордов" or "Рекорды" "Опции" (options) or "Настройки" (configurations) "Титры" Don't try to use dictonaries or translators, it's useless. Russian is not a simple language. Russian grammar differs significantly from English
Apologies. Part of it is limitations, I can only fit so many unique characters within VRAM, so I had to make ы a combination of ь and I. The other part is in fact that I'm obviously not a native Russian speaker and I don't have someone readily available to translate for me when need be. I tried to do the minimum of using DeepL over Google Translate, but evidently that wasn't enough. I'll use the corrections you've provided, thank you.
You loading latin and cyril symbols in vram at same time. Just load only letters which latin alphabet doesn't have. (russian cyrillic) you only need: "БГДЖЗИЙЛПУФЦШЧЪЫЬЭЮЯ" or just disable latin letters when russian language is selected and fonts... just rip it from russian pirate transnations (Sonic 1, 2?)

As revealed at the Sonic Hacking Spotlight, Giovanni's Level Pack 2! This in-development Sonic hack of mine will have a bunch of fully renovated levels, with multiple exits to find, and also Red Star Rings to collect, for the more die-hard collectionists! It's a project I've been cultivating while waiting for the release of the Sonic 1 remake in Sonic Clean Engine, to keep myself occupied and continue honing my level crafting skills in the mean time. You can expect this ROM hack to release this summer!
