How in the hell is this destroying anything?

 

I'll bet you anything if I took a survey, asking "How would you feel if it is suddenly revealed that Sonic has control over fire like a fucking X-man?" The repsonse would be overwhelmingly negative.

You just don't do it. That's like if Mario suddenly had inherent X-ray vision.

Whoa, you're taking this way too far. This is one game we're talking about, and it doesn't even take place in the real world. We're talking about Arabian Nights here. Fire is sort of a big deal in old stories like that, so it would make sense in the context of the game. It's not like he's going to jump out of the book and become the next Human (Hedgehog?) Torch. Would I think it was stupid if Sonic suddenly became Pyro and controlling fire became the main part of the game? Probably no more than I did at Mario being sentenced to an indefinate period of community service cleaning up graffiti on a tropical island with a talking super-soaker. Whatever works in the context of the game.

I am repsonding to the insinuations that it is revealed that Sonic has fire powers in Sonic The Hedgehog, and it will carry over into the rest of the series starting with Wildfire.

 

And why would that be a problem?

 

Because I am of the personal opinion that Sonic having fire powers akin to Blaze would destroy the character. For me, at least.

 

It would actually probably draw a nice parallel between him and Blaze.

Besides, Super Sonic often appears with yellow flame nowadays, and in the ancient wall thinger in S&K it shows a BLUE hedgehog surrounded with fire, not to mention his involvement with flame in every game in the last 12 years.

It's nothing new.

Doesn't that totally conflict with the original Sonic storyline? Especially if the whole Kintobor thing was counted as being official. Does that also mean Iblis' spirit inside Sonic gives him his powers?

I also heard the whole characters dying thing is something that happens if you don't go back in time and stop if from happening.

Hey, you liked Sonic CD, right? No different here, seriously. Just for a different purpose. Lack of info on the original Sonic plotline (if any even was meant to exist) can allow you to slip a lot of plot twists in there. Anyone remember the true origin of the Maverick Virus in Megaman X? It's on that sort of level.

 

Not sure if the Kintobor thing is official, that's up for debate.

Besides, Sonic Adventure retconned the backstory to Sonic 3 & Knuckles, it wouldn't be the first time they did that.

And Shade, lol, I guess you didn't like Sonic CD then.

 

Yes, but Sonic CD wasn't horribly gay, and the storyline hadn't been raped yet.
