I just picked this up too at my local Gamestop. I don't know why it was in the sale bin, but when I tried to put the tiny disk into my Xbox 360, it wasn't picking it up. Maybe the disc is defective? :v:

In seriousness, the spin from Sega to push this as the original Dreamcast version just to be stingy and sell another component of this game as "added extras" is pretty embarrassing. Good call in the comments when people (I know it was a group of you bastards because the writing quality suddenly sky rocketed) on pressing with regards to the Dreamcast DLC and the unused GCN Twinkle Circuit tracks not showing up.

Not much of a point in picking this up, really, when you can get the same game used on Gamecube for less than $10 with all the features this and the "added" DLC is pimping around.

so it definitely IS the PC version then? I played the demo and noticed that there's no transition in Sonic's movement animations. Like, your running north, and you start heading north east, and then east, etc, he just clips from direction to direction instead of actually circling around. Kind of like you were pressing the arrow keys on a keyboard, if you catch my drift. Also the shiny models. Good god, the shiny models. I think I'll stick with the emulated widescreen cube version on the dolphin pc emulator.

Point for point it's the PC version. It's the easiest one to port around for quick slap job releases like this.

I played the demo, it worked and controled alot better than I thought it would, the 360 range on the controler works pretty much like the dreamcast one, and not like thr 8-point analog on the Gamecube. I threadded sonic though emerald coast like it was nothing, and I havent even played sonic advenuture in years.

Think I might have to pony up some points and buy it, its awsome you get some sonic sneakers for your avatar for playing for 10 hours, I can only hope they put SA2 on at some point, so I can get some Soaps and wear them ALLLLLLLL the time for infinity.

And I have heard around here and I agree, what is with segas obsession with making Sonic shiny? Mat blue SA2 sonic please

WHERE IS DILAPIDATED WAY? THERE'S SUPPOSED TO BE A DILAPIDATED WAY, EGGMAN!!

Seriously, I'm in casino night and I didn't get dropped down into the sewers after I ran out of credits on the pinball table... That part's called "Dilapidated Way" and it's actually the easiest way to rack up the 400 coins quickly... Am I doing something wrong? It's been a LONG time since I played this, but wasn't that how you got down there?

wait did they really cut that out? You typically need to run out of balls with under 100 rings to get to dilapidated way.

The Gamecube version also lacked a few sound effects or changed some in places, some effects like the Gamma's glowing eyes are also gone. I'm not positive but I think some of the cutscenes run are truncated slightly or run faster. I guess it's also up for debate whether the smoother character models are for better or worse, though I admit they don't quite gel with the other models that weren't altered at all and still look jagged and basic (not to mention also make the horrid semi-animation for the cutscenes even more glaring). Also while not an actual problem with the normal game some levels have been compressed of data and had some unnecessary elements cut out (this means some of the Dreamcast glitches to get into alternate routes can't be done, eg. Gamma in Sonic's Emerald Coast).

I truthfully would like them to just skip all these cheap ports and make a real Director's Cut. Seriously the game would probably shine wonderfully if it had been finished and refined properly.

The framerate in DX on the gamecube was NOT a constant 60fps by any means... it dropped frames like mad half the time whenever something graphic-intense was going on. It just had the decency to try 60fps whenever possible.

oh, I was thinking performance issues. Yeah, every port of the game has been lackluster. SEGA doesn't do good ports. I would give anything for a real director's cut of SA. I'd even lead the project for minimum wage =P

No. It was 60fps everywhere, except for the cutscenes, where the framerate was capped to 30fps. I play it constantly, and I don't remember it having a single slowdown ever (perhaps because I'm playing it on the Wii?).

Now, about the XBLA port... the PartnerNet build was exactly the DX PC version of the game. When it was officially released two days ago, I saw it on Xbox Marketplace listed as just Sonic Adventure (1), and there was a DLC for upgradding it to the DX version. Now what? Without the DLC, the XBLA version of the game will be the DC version, with the original lowpoly models and original textures included? If so, I'm getting it, because, as I stated many times before, the Dreamcast version is superior.

Nope, the x-box's 'dreamcast' version has the dx models and stages. The only thing you get for buying the 'dx' upgrade is mission mode and I think the gamegear minigames.

No. It's always SADX but with minigames, missions and Metal Sonic disabled until you buy the DLC.

    Edit: Ninja'd

If you go to the market place through SA XBLA itself, you can get the DX pack for 400MS there.

Oh, and there aren't any Gamegear games. Even though the files are still there. Unless you unlock them by using the mission mode, I don't see the option on the menu for the minigames anywhere.

That's so SEGA can re-release them on the service one by one at 800 points a pop. Boy, I sure can't wait for Sonic Spinball.
