Besides, I've already said I don't trust IGN's reviews. I tend to find a random number generator is much more accurate.

 

Speaking of terrible game reviews, does anyone remember Game Trailers' review for Zero Gravity? "The controls suck because steering is mapped to the joystick along with acceleration." Someone didn't get the memo that the boards move by themselves.

As for SADXBLA (which is a fun anagram to just say out loud as if it's a real word), I may or may not get it right away. I've got a $10 Best Buy card that I've been planning on coupling with some tip money to get some points, but I dunno if I want to use it for that, or for Sonic 4 in November. On top of that, I'd have to resubscribe to Live just get to the fucking download page, and then if I were to get a new console (mine finally kicked the bucket so I've been slapping my HDD into my roommate's), I'd have to keep paying for Live to play shit I've already paid for. I personally can't stand online gaming (you can't play a full game of anything without the host trash talking you '4 t3h hax0rz' and eventually ragequitting, even in goddamn All Stars Racing), so as far as I'm concerned the only point of a Gold account is buying the ability to buy something from the service. Does the Silver account even exist anymore? And what the fuck does that even get you these days? A fucking pat on the back for figuring out how to hook up your videro game doohickey to the onlines?

Silver account allows you to buy content from the Marketplace, including this. Gold is for online play and certain special services.

 

Well, that does make me feel better. Thanks Duck-O. But why did I have to renew my Gold account to buy Rocket Knight when that came out if I can download shit with Silver?

 

You shouldn't have to. The official word on it is:

So you were either doing something wrong, or they were. Maybe you were trying to cash in on a Gold-only price-drop promotion, and it didn't redirect you properly.

 

Silver members have to wait a week for new Demos/Arcade that Gold members get on the first day. Did you perhaps try and download it the first day it came out?

And that's fucking stupid. I can see them losing business that way.

I'll suck it up for Sonic 4 (I'm OCD as shit about getting new Sonic games on Day 1), but if I'm getting SADX at all it's going to be at least a week from now.

 

Didn't some review say there wasn't a tutorial?

 

That restriction does not apply to XBLA games.

I'm just going to give the demo a go for the moment. I already have it for the Dreamcast, Gamecube and PC.

They seem to be acting as if it's the Dreamcast version, even going so far as removing the DX while delivering the DX version. (And using the official Dreamcast version art)

 

The trial is taking an ass-load of time to downlolad for me. It's 1.49 gigs by the way.

The PSN version comes out on the 22nd I hear.

I knew that they were porting the PC version of DX, but I became confused when people said that it actually was the Dreamcast version. And look what they do, they, to say in the least, dissapoint people with releasing DX that has a tweaked SA1 menu. And where is that add-on pack that I saw on a leaked screenshot? All I see on XBLA's Sonic Adventure page is a trial and the full game.

 

Well, bought this earlier, been playing it since. They've replaced some PVM files, and even put in some higher res textures. Still no 1080p/widescreen, when that's easier than replacing PVMs. Still, I can't complain, I'm a sucker for rereleases of good games.

Yeah, what that means is just that you get the mission mode, Metal Sonic, and the Game Gear games - all of them which are already in the game files but just require a $5 "dlc" to unlock. Yay.

This port is very shoddy, and they didn't even bother to clean up anything. What were they thinking...
