    Right now there's no plan to animate the backgrounds beyond obvious elements like clouds. Additional layering is a possibility, and we'll be looking at the rest as we come to them.
     
  2. (Slightly off-topic) I told Santa I wanted Sonic 2 HD for Christmas. Oh well. Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!

    We'll send it once there's a history of updates posted and a playable game to back it up. Scanline made the site. I'll be updating the blog again this week, so keep tabs on that!

    It's great to see a countdown to a playable demo now, I'm really looking forward to seeing this new art direction, extra frames of animation for the characters and to play those fantastic physics again. It could be worth having a dedicated Youtube channel and a HD video showing it off on it's release date. If this is going to turn out as good as I think it will then it's something the S2HD staff should be proud about, but also not forgetting the contributors that have put forth the ideas and their hard work into the concepts of this fan game.

    I use Chrome and it works fine. Try ctrl + F5 for a forced reload?

    Let's just say you are rolling and smash into a monitor... wouldn't it be cool to see it smashed in a road-kill kind of way? As in a trail of insides.

    Also, how about when Sonic dies, we alter his death pose a bit dependent on what kind of death? Flat Sonic, burnt Sonic, breathless/purple-ish Sonic...
    Just throwing these brainstorms out without really wanting it though.

    A 'road-kill' style monitor smash would be an interesting use of animation frames. We'll see what we do and don't have room for after the alpha release. As for the different ways to show how Sonic meets his demise, we've already looked at those. While they may not be included in the alpha, what you described is remarkably similar to what the staff was experimenting with when his frames were being created.

    If you don't mind me asking, what kind of drowning animation will you use for the game? Will you make him drown just like he did the original, or will it be portrayed realistically, ala Super Mario 64?

    I don't remember if this has been asked but, is there a Wii (or, god allowing, a ps3) port being considered?
