  1. I always have this feeling that, when they announced that there was going to be a Sonic game for the Saturn and it was going to be a 3D game play, but, in the end it never made it to the console, disapointing a whole community of fans, SEGA decided to try at any cost to make a game that would at least follow the concept.

    Of course Sonic 3D Blast doesn't have an actual 3D gameplay, or we could say that Toe Jam & Earl is a 3D game as well which it isn't.

    Sonic 3D Blast, to me, always looked more like a "let's do some tests with these and those ideas" but, after they gave up on Xtreme, they went "oh, now we gotta release something like we said we were going to release so let's give this stuff a good appearance so people will be happy".

    But that's just a personal oppinion which probably has nothing to do with what really happened inside SEGA.

    I dunno... Sonic 3D has got *kind of* 3D gameplay - you do go up (jump, or ramps), down (ramps), left, right, into the screen (move forward) and out of the screen (move backward)... I count 3 dimensions there... in a way anyway. But I knwo what you mean...

    Nothing that concerns this place in the least.
    I just checked out the second demo video on the first page, and from looking at that, the gameplay seemed very good when compared to the first demo. It's quite a shame we all had to miss out on that. In my opinion, I think this game WOULD'VE been "the answer to SM64". Not saying that it would be better than that game, just saying that it would've been good enough to compete with it.

    Now somebody tell me they aren't remined of Bug! with that screenshot. It's basically the same, except for the camera.

    After seeing that screenshot, I wish I had the art used to make it - if you haven't realised, it's an isometric version of the Green Hill Zone, totems, palmtrees and all.

    Wait a minute...that looks suspiciously familiar. Wasn't there a rendered GHZ level in one of the movies in Sonic Jam? I'm sure that looks somewhat similar - there's a bit in the bottom right corner which looks almost exactly like one bit I recall.

    EDIT: $_ =~ s/CD/Jam/g;

    He did say that he was fairly sure he had the original digital image that this is a printout of somewhere, so you might be lucky. =P

    For once the Death Egg has some use other than being a millimeter away from copyright infringement. w00.

    You're awesome, HXC.

    By the way, you forget to mention some things that Chris Senn said:
    That is a new and improved version of the Death Egg. The castle being attacked is called "Castle of Light". Prof. Boobowski did send a "call" for help just before he and the castle were captured (ok, this is obvious, but maybe some people didn't get it). And that this is the music for one level piece of the Death Egg:

    The theme is called "Proving Grounds".
