Terrible Sonic jokes, huh? Spoiler Regardless of whether or not this was meant to be a joke, it still sucked, and managed to piss me off. It's one of the few lines of dialogue in any Sonic game ever, that made me want to vomit.
I never really understood why anyone would get so pissy over one little line that lampshades the Robotnik/Eggman confusion. It's only purpose was to acknowledge that it's part of Sonic history and make it canon just for kicks and giggles. So who cares?
And I'll never understand how anybody could look at that as anything more than blatant trolling on their part. To me, that's almost like saying that the Sylvania Castle Zone boss intro in Sonic 4: Episode II wasn't meant to troll anybody. The only difference between the two, however, is that the latter one was actually kind of funny.

Back to the topic at hand, though: AJ Freda had a section of his website back in the day with a TON of puns, but I can't remember many of them!
