REGARDLESS, this is not a topic about him, so can we get back to Generations please? End of discussion.
Tropical Resort has a wisp exclusive for the DS version -the red burst- so yes it's based on the DS version.
I second this, would also be nice to disable the background distance blur shader effect when you start moving fast as classic sonic. Possibly other shader effects too, I might be able to run this game at a much more playable speed on my macbook air then :P Took me 8 hours to finish the game at a casual pace, doing about a quarter of the challenges. Some of these are really well designed! But whats up with like, having about 600+ seconds time limit on some of them? They don't take anywhere near that long lol.
To be fair, the Advance games, while good, are no where near as iconic as the Adventure games are. And most of the Game Gear games are kind of forgettable compared to the main series, not to mention have almost no influence on other main Sonic games in general. The level list for this and the console version are what you would expect to see in terms of "iconic" levels(Ice Cap could be in, but I won't go into that).
Yeah...If I were to have my way with using ALL portable levels for this game, I would have used the following: Classic Era (Game Gear) Sonic 1 (GG): Bridge Zone Sonic 2 (GG): Sky High Zone Sonic Triple Trouble: Sunset Park Zone Advance Era Sonic Advance: Casino Paradise Sonic Advance 2: Music Plant Sonic Advance 3: Chaos Angel Modern Era (DS) Sonic Rush: Water Palace Sonic Rush Adventure: Plant Kingdom Sonic Colors: Tropical Resort And just to keep with the "portable" theme, lets add some portable bosses and rivals! One for each era! Bosses Classic Era: Doodlebug (OH GOD NOT HIM AGAIN!) Advance Era: Egg Hammer (Combination of all three!!) Modern Era: Egg King (Fighting a Mech on falling shrapnel? IN SPACE?!) Rivals Classic Era: Silver Sonic (from Sonic Pocket Adventure no less 0.o) Advance Era: Gemerl (This would be fun) Modern Era: Blaze the Cat (HERE WE GO GUYS) So there you go. All the cards are there. Sonic Team just refused to give Dimps the direction and budget that would have made for a more "portable" tribute to the series.
I agree, with the exception of the classic era. I say keep making genesis stages for that, and for rivals, drop silver Sonic, add classic Knuckles. Advance era can be Gemerl, and Modern Era can be Blaze.
Well this was my BEST case scenario for a portable history, but since you insist... Classic Era (Genesis) Sonic 1: Green Hill Sonic 2: Casino Night Sonic & Knuckles: Mushroom Hill Advance Era Sonic Advance: Casino Paradise Sonic Advance 2: Music Plant Sonic Advance 3: Chaos Angel Modern Era (DS) Sonic Rush: Water Palace Sonic Colors: Tropical Resort Bosses Classic Era: Doodlebug (OH GOD NOT HIM AGAIN!) Advance Era: Egg Hammer (Combination of all three!!) Modern Era: Egg King (Fighting a Mech on falling shrapnel? IN SPACE?!) Rivals Classic Era: Knuckles the Echidna (He be punchin and spin dashin) Advance Era: Gemerl (This would be fun) Modern Era: Blaze the Cat (HERE WE GO GUYS)
More like this: Replace Genesis with Game Gear: Game Gear Era Sonic the Hedgehog: Green Hill (Obviously) Sonic Chaos: Gigalopolis Sonic Triple Trouble: Robotnik Winter Replace Knuckles with Nack "Fang" Sniper, and Big with Blaze and we'll have a game.
I don't mind those level choices, or Fang the Sniper being a Rival...but how do you FIGHT Big? He also wasn't in any portable game I can remember either.
I'd have loved for Sonic Chaos to get represented for those awesome Rocket Shoes alone (and the less awesome spring-shoes). Shit was a big part of my childhood on the Master System :v:
People complained about too few to no levels from the handheld games after "Windmill Isle" is shown off. So, since Windmill Isle, Water Palace, and Blue Coast all share the same basic trope (Mykonos themed), let's just rename the level to shut people up. All of them share similar enough gimmicks that little reconstruction has to be done. But no one remembers Blue Coast, so who gives a crud about that.
Going off that pie-in-the-sky level list, I'd really like to have seen Crystal Egg in there somehow. I mean, sure, the final stage of a game is probably not the first choice most people would have, but screw it, it's one of the most original (and, personally, visually appealing) stages in the entire series.
I'd choose (respecting the 7-level limit!) Classic Era (Genesis) Sonic 1: Green Hill w/ Emerald Hill elements + underwater sections Sonic 2: Casino Night w/ Carnival Night elements Sonic & Knuckles: Lava Reef+Hidden Palace Advance Era Sonic Advance: Angel Island w/ Sky Sanctuary elements Sonic Advance 2: Techno Base w/ Cyber Track elements Modern Era (DS) Sonic Rush: Water Palace Sonic Colors: Asteroid Coaster - BAD ASS FINAL LEVEL
