THIS IS A MEGATHREAD. MEGATHREAD RULES ARE IN EFFECT. If I see any one-line replies, off-topic noise or people complaining about spoilers, I will personally come to your house and break your keyboard. That, or make sure you get suspended. And they say large sites don't offer personal service. Welcome to the Sonic Generations Megathread II: Electric Boogaloo! Now that the street date has broken and our old Megathread hit more than 11,000 replies, we're opening a second topic for discussing reviews, personal impressions and any post-release news that comes up. IF YOU LIKE THE GAME, BUY IT. DON'T PIRATE IT. NOT FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING COOL THINGS MAKES YOU AN ASSHAT. Music: Andrew75 has released a rip collection which can be found at this location. Waiting on actual release of soundtrack and/or iTunes drop. Metacritic Scores: PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360 / PC / 3DS Alright, punks. Let's get running.
God damn, Casino Night is SO jazzy. Also, I'm personally a little underwhelmed by the "For True Story" remix. Here's hoping they have the original version in there somewhere!
Loving what I've heard of the soundtrack so far. For anyone who doesn't want to download the giant ZIP file, a kind man on Twitter has been posting soundtrack rips to his Mediafire page.
One line comment. GO ON THEN, COME AT ME BRO-- This is turning out to be my Game of the Year. It still isn't out for another 7 days in Europe. I am in love with everything from this game that I have seen so far. Edit: This soundtrack is the best thing I have ever heard.
The Stardust Speedway remix is downright orgasmic. It's pretty much perfect in every way. For True Story, however, is a mess. How they managed to screw that one up, I'll never know.
has anyone saved all of the pre-final screenshots, videos etc? They might be useful to the wiki or Sonic Retro-Retro 2041, and then nuke the original thread (because who wants to sift through 11 thousand replies just to find achievement icons, right?) I only just bought a 360 tonight, mostly for this game, and I'll pre order the special edition box thingy as soon as I can
I know we only have half of the soundtrack with that zip, but has anyone else noticed Ice Cap, Carnival Night, and Launch base missing from the soundtrack dumps so far? They included Angel Island, Marble Garden, Baloon Park, Mushroom Hill, Flying Battery, Hydrocity and Death Egg(S3K Version). I am starting to wonder wither there are some issues with MJ's estate in remixing those songs.
People really shouldn't assume that every time something from Sonic 3 isn't referenced it's Michael Jackson's fault. Lots of music didn't make it in.
Spoiler You know as much as I would rate the Original Sonic theme (1/2) over Sonic 4's, it does make the most sense considering that it is a classic game that isn't a classic game. I do however love the small piece of Live and Learn (though they could have mixed it more than just being a cut, thinking Shadow the Hedgehog). Though, does this mean that Super Sonic isn't in normal gameplay?
Rooftop Run classic's beginning sounds like something I heard before, but the only thing it comes to mind is Leaf Forest and that's not it.
Spoiler Super Sonic is in normal gameplay, one of the achievements mentions beating a regular level with Super Sonic
I'm currently in the process of uploading the raw aax files for lossless enjoyment. There's lots of music in here. I'll be using Multiupload so I can upload in more than one location at once. Also if you guys want, I can upload properly looped versions of the music in 320 kbps 48khz (I don't want to do 44khz because these songs are mixed with 48khz). They'll lack tags though, but the filenames are kinda self explanatory.
That honeycomb portal thing in the final boss cutscene evokes yet even more 90s nostalgia and has got me thinking of the gameshow Blockbusters.
I expect they just used the international soundtrack for the re-release of CD because of all the retrofags blabbing on about how the Japanese soundtrack was so much better, and because it was available to more people at the time, more people will remember it. Plus I expect they figured that if there was enough interest, they could make even more money by offering up the US soundtrack as DLC. Plus, it's cheaper if you only get one soundtrack, and for a download only game, keeping costs down is everything. I'd be surprised if the US soundtrack didn't turn up in the new year. And, slightly more on topic: I still haven't spoiled anything, I'm so proud of myself. Good job I'm going to my girlfriend's, or I'd be tearing my hair out by now, there's only so many cooking programmes one can watch.
"Mission 2" is the Quick Race from Sonic Heroes (and maybe a few others?). But where do I recognise "Mission 3" from? I feel like I should know it, like the answer is on the tip of my tongue.
