Outrun is mentioned in the first episode of the UK comedy Dead Pixels. Total War is mentioned in the second episode.

  2. I've been letting my 4 year old nephew hang in my room for a bit everyday and let him watch youtube or play switch. Just now I put on his current favourite cartoon, Woofles, and there just so happened to be a whole episode inspired by Sonic. He adores Sonic thanks to me and excitedly requested it. All the main cast dress as Sonic and co, with someone as Amy and even Peppa Pig as Tails. They contend with a stampede of Rhinobots and go emerald hunting. It was cute.

I wonder how Sega feels about their characters being used in a Mario Bros. game...

  5. I imagine they're perfectly cool with it, I mean it ain't like they haven't crossed over with Mario before...

Reminds me of a shirt I need to locate in my collection that depicts Mario in a Sonic suit. I'm curious if Sega approved that or if it was even licensed at all, but it inspired some neat ideas for hacks that I'll likely never make.

Yeah, though I imagine when Sonic shows up in a Mario Olympics game, it's due to a licensing agreement. Pretty sure Nintendo wasn't part of this, and the cartoon was made by people who have no idea what a Sonic game actually looks like.

Nice. Dont see Jerry Maguire. It's about 10 min in. I also think Wayne's World features Sonic?

  14. Wayne's World indeed does feature footage of some Sonic 1 proto featuring the Marble Zone UFOs.

Yep... we have the Wayne's World reference here (the first one), but we still have to add Jerry Maguire to the list so... thanks for the tip ;) ...

Some Korean reality shows use sound effects from Sonic.
Sonic is really popular in South Korea.

Oh lol, several of its scenes are copied 1:1 from this episode of Sonic Mania Adventures, how could they get away without being accused of plagiarism?

  18. I imagine probably a combination of it being a Vietnamese production, for children, and it being one of several homages to Sonic. Of course I can't be certain that Sega was/is cool with it or if they were/are even aware.

Because it was a clear Sonic homage/parody. Parodies aren't considered plagiarism.
