There's also the UK show Dead Pixels. First episode mentions Outrun. Beginning of 2nd episode mentions Total War.

In Big Bang Theory, Sheldon mentions someone stole his copy of Mario and Sonic.

Parody is a form of critique - that isn't criticising Sonic, just adapting it.

Netflix subsitles skip over the line so can't screenshot, however IMDB has Jerry Maguire quote:

Jerry Maguire: [over the phone] I will not rest until I have you holding a Coke, wearing your own shoe, playing a Sega game *featuring you*, while singing your own song in a new commercial, *starring you*, broadcast during the Superbowl, in a game that you are winning, and I will not *sleep* until that happens. I'll give you fifteen minutes to call me back.

@Deathscythe Please don't quadruple-post. The edit button exists, use it - especially if your previous post was barely hours old.

Sorry my bad, just wanted to make sure the editors of Sega Retro were noticing there were new entries:

Speaking of, in the Ultra Sheen episode of Jimmy Neutron:

    @cartridgeculture got some updates!

    Dead Pixels:

I took a picture of the OutRun mention, but Channel 4 websites screenshots don't work so I had to take a picture with my phone. 10:52 in.

    Mooney Boy:

    https://www.betaseries.com/en/episode/moone-boy/s02e04/image

Irish comedy had an episode where the protagonist wants a Mega Drive

    All Elite Wrestling:

A fan is holding a sign rightfully saying Panzer Dragoon Saga is better than Final Fantasy 7.

Tons of Mega Drive and Saturn stuff here, but here is one that covers the launch of the Saturn in Japan. Season 4 Episode 13 aired 13 December 1994.

Also, some updates for your main page:

    Jerry Maguire:

On the description, you spelled Maguire as Maqguire.

    Hi Score Girl:

The episode where the protagonist gets a Saturn is Season 1 Episode 10 which aired on September 15, 2018.

    Big Bang Theory:

Here's a clip of the stolen Mario & Sonic game mention. Also should be more for Sonic Retro not Sega Retro?

    Bits:

A lot of Dreamcast reviews, but to give you one you can detail, Virtua Tennis reviewed on Season 4 Episode 1 which aired October 2nd, 2000

    Neon Genesis Evangelion:

    https://i.redd.it/audgy84z12031.jpg

The Sega Saturn episode with VF2 was Episode 23 "Tears" which aired on March 6, 1996

    The Inbetweeners:

Virtua Tennis episode was Season 3 Episode 5 "Home Alone" which aired on 11 October 2010.

No problem! Glad I can contribute.

A US fast food company, ironically called Sonic Drive-In, did an Outrun themed commercial once:

So with the celebrities stuff, it'll get posted if its been "published somewhere significant". Meaning mostly TV/Movies and not web. Generally. If its from a web show, or a video published to YouTube, then probably, but we'd really prefer the reference being associated with a "published, branded thing." So them on Cribs, yes. Them in a Twitter video, probably not.

As for the "media appearances in promotion of a Sega product", I generally don't include those, as they're direct promotions and belong on that products' page. For the most part. And yes, that means a number of older entries on References need to be moved to respective articles (like the Dreamcast on Rosie O'Donnell or those kids touring SoA for a Nick show). I just haven't had a chance to do them yet.

Hi Score Girl in general is pretty fantastic for not just old-school Sega references, but gaming from that era in general since it all revolves around a preteen boy who loves video games, mainly fighting games.

The dub is also kind of funny in that it uses localized names for just about anything that got a US release, which often puts the visuals at odds with the dialogue, as well as some mix-and-match scenarios (talking about the NES and Famicom Disk System in the same sentence, for example).

So the Isekai Ojisan anime started yesterday and wow does it deliver with the obscure Sega references.

Never would I have imagined to be watching TV in 2022 and have a character describe the story arch of 'Seven Force' Kaede with the music from Alien Soldier playing in the background:

I mean, just watch the beginning of the OP and have a heart attack if you're a Sega Saturn fan ;)
