I wasnt talking specifically about the whole frame, maybe you can use a soft eraser to "soften" the rough parts... But nice job anyways ^^U
export as an apng and the alpha will be visible GIF files can't do 20% transparancy, or 70% transparancy or whatever -- all it can do is 0% or 100%.
Kablawee! I'm really sick of these explosions. Next time, I'm making something not as fiery. Think in the spirit of water.
I'd go with the geometrical shape if for no other reason than this. The game splits those light tiles in an odd way sometimes, so it almost has to be geometrical unless you want to make a couple variants of the same light so they align when they are split. Also, you might want to make that gem bigger. I just looked at it at 72 dpi at 64x64 pixels and it's a bit small.
That concept on the left is looking great test-object. I agree with what was said about making it larger though. Having a shine applied to the gem as it goes through its 'lit up' frames would be a nice touch too.
It doesnt seem to be an emerald in the original to me...and its way too cel shaded styled... but dunno...
Maybe so, but it's a fitting change I believe; this is a prime example of the kind of extra details that will make S2HD shine.. The shaping fits well with the pattern and the theme is ideal for the level. Looking good on the size change.
I like the emerald, and though it does look very cell shaded, this is not the x4 size so it won't need as much detail since it will be smaller yeah? Also I think the glow should extend onto the outer rim thing...
Actually the details aren't that noticeable at 4x... and believe me, that's small to me xD...I work on a 8000 x 8000 at 300dpi for all things... the eggomatic details in full res just blow my mind. Its a shame they wont be noticeable in 4x
Took me a second to warm up to, but I think its perfect. Anything more obscure would look to repetitive.
Thank you for all critique so far. Update time. This is still WIP, mind you. I was wondering if anyone got some tips for making the glow not stop all of the sudden in Illustrator. I'd be grateful.
