So you don't actually see the characters take out a flute? And does whistling only work in the Chao Garden or can you use it in other places (e.g. to attract animals like in SA2).
In SADX, whistling is only used in the Chao garden. And they don't take out a flute, they have a separate animation for whistling! This is likely due to SADX's Chao mechanics being virtually identical to SA2:B's. Whistling to get Chao to come to you was a thing there too.
Wasn't one the name of the upgrade, and the other the name of the ability? Like what Ancient Light is to Light Attack.
Just spotted a Sonic & Knuckles with a different manual layout that I don't think is on the wiki. Also, is this a genuine box or the cardboard box cut to fit in a regular MD case? http://m.ebay.com/itm/252963908835
So I was looking at the GameTap Sonic The Hedgehog Retrospective video from 2009. I was namely interested in it because that's the widely-used source for Sonic 1's 15 million sales numbers (and it also corrobates Sonic 2's six million sales number), and was wondering if it has any sales numbers for Sonic 3&K. Well it does, but the video (it's Part 4 in particular) says it under the following phrasing: "The two games sell four million units". Is it saying that's how much Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles soldl combined, or if that's how much they each sold individually? What do you guys think? As for the retrospective itself, it's become something of a"Keep Circulating The Tapes" situation. The videos and the GameTap channel that posted them are still up on YouTube, but all four parts have been region blocked by Metaboli Inc., a French company that acquired and shut down GameTap. Mirrors of Part 1 have been made, but the other parts are harder to find. I was only able to see it through sites that bypass the region block. If they haven't been saved to the site, I'm planning on obtaining them.
I've saved them (alongside a "Tapped In: The Sonic Boom" video, which is a less detailed / alternate report of the development of Sonic 1), I plan to upload them to the Sonic wiki later. After mulling over my earlier question earlier, I'll presume the statement referred to the combined sales of both Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles selling four million units. Planning to use the video parts as reference to the game's sales data. (I've also saved "Tapped In" videos about the development of Toejam and Earl, and Virtual Fighter. The former two include interviews with the TJ&E creators. Latter doesn't, but has snippets of Tomb Raider's creator on how the game inspired him to come up with the design for Laura Croft.)
Apparently, hedgehogs blowing up like balloons are actually a real thing - though this is unique to hedgehogs.: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/11/hedgehog-blown-like-beachball-diagnosed-balloon-syndrome/
Well, I've watched those outside the seven I've downloaded, and they don't have any interviews with anyone from Sega (unless you're counting gaming historians), they're small history trips or casual players reminiscing about the games. I can still download those videos if needed, but they don't seem to be have hiding anything we haven't seen/read before.
Downloaded them all. There were also Sega-related videos that weren't in the playlist I was able to catch--a "Play This Game" clip about Toejam and Earl: Panic on Funktron and a Tapped-In video on Virtual Fighter (which I had previously downloaded). That should make 15 videos overall. Didn't recognize any other Sega-related videos, so if there are other videos hosted there outside of the playlist that I missed, please let me know.
There's a horrible oversight in Chemical Plant Zone Act 2's collision. Explanation with pictures in the replies.
