Apparently, the stage was 'not inspired by' the previous Casino cliche' levels.

Bit late to the party. The preview and trailer was otherwise good but Ken shouldn't of said that, a bit shooting himself in the foot but I've forgiven him.

Now just a few hundred more PO'd fans to go and he'll be all good.

 

I like the new wallpaper up for download on the JP site, although they're being a bit stingy with the resolution (come on guys! Sonic 4 is allegedly in "Full HD", which is 1920x1080. And you've zoomed out. Surely you can manage more than 1280x1024? It's too small horizontally for even my laptop screen! [/rant]).

 

Because Sega is always under this impression that the Japanese actually give a shit about Sonic.

 

Actually, maybe he wasn't referring to the stage look, but more the level design?

 

It's like everybody but me didn't understand what he was trying to say, simply because he phrased it poorly.

He's saying it's not meant to clone any previous casino level in particular, just the general trope. He's wrong, because it's obviously based on Casino Night, but that's what he meant.

 

This statement actually brings me great hope, as a person who has been playing the series since Sonic 1 was released 91 (I was 3 at the time), I've never had a real problem with the direction of the games outside of the "completeness" of them, but seeing that Episode 2 hasnt even been started gives me hope that, perhaps, they will give greater attention to the physics and complaints of the longtime fans (tbh though, Episode 1 looks perfectly fine to me, its not Sonic 4 as I truely imagoned it but then again, after 16 years, that statement is mute), but it still looks fun as hell. I look forward to what comes ahead.

 

I'm not getting my hopes up at all, but I just want that inertia gone. Sonic Rush's inertia was off, way off, and it looks crap here in the casino. How difficult is it to change the inertia? You wouldn't even need to change level design.

Ah well, apart from that, and that oddly slow spinning animation, I'm liking the look of this game.

 

So wait wait wait, didn't we already hear an official statement that Episode 2 was being worked on, like, not just story wise? Or was it really just that and my memory is fuzzy?

 

Thanks for showing off Splash Hill Act 2. Out of the three tracks from SHZ, I've always preferred this one. Now to bug RAMPKORV for a Casino Street 1/3 midi.

Also, more stuff by Balough is great. Looks like I have more stuff for our next review.

 

Nope, they just said they had all the episodes planned out, AKA story. But it won't be another summer unless they completely make a new engine.

The point that guy was making is still idiotic though. Getting hurt or using the homing attack is not the player's choice, it is punishment for not playing the game Sega's way.
