PC version is cool but I have nothing to add about it and system requirements are boring SO

It's funny. He calls it the Tornado-1, but the plane's actual texture had the words Tornado 3 on it.

Actually, the Genocide part of the name was just something that sounded dangerous to the Japanese staff. Engrish, basically.

And to reiterate (and to drive certain people nuts):

It is literally impossible for Sonic 2006 to fit in any continuity to the previous games. Elise has had the blue chaos emerald for the past 10 years. None of the main Sonic games could have happened

  2. Glad to hear that! I was a little worried about that.
In regards to the Japanese thing, it'll be my pleasure to translate anything you want. I hope I can help!

Yeah DLC is a must nowadays, Although I wonder what direction they will go with it. Either we get an extra level based of off the main sonic games (Like for example Labyrinth Zone for Sonic 1 and Launch Base Zone for Sonic 3, we'll get Casino Night Zone) or we'll have levels based off of other sonic games like Sonic CD, Spinball, 3D Blast, etc.

I see the former most likely happening but it would have been nice to playthrough a Reimaging of Toxic Caves.

As for extra bosses, I dunno. I think we'll get more then 4 bosses in the final game but other then that I'm not sure if we'll get extra bosses as DLC, it would be pretty cool.

  4. I think they are either going to make Unleashed-style DLC, with new layouts and small variations of already existing stages, or, and I think this is not very unlikely, we'll see three DLC, each one containing a brand-new stage of each one of the three eras, to play with both Classic and Modern Sonic.
If that happens, I would like them to be Hidrocity Zone, Metal Harbor and some stage from Colors since I didn't get to play that game. Actually, I only care about HZ [IMG]

  5. Personally, I'm sorta hoping the DLC adds some more level tropes, like, say, Ice Cap, or Eggmanland.

I'd definitely want Sweet Mountain as DLC, so we can all get diabetes in HD. :v:

As it was removed, I find it likely that it was a mistake. IMHO the PC version was scrapped early in production and traces of it are mistakes. I don't see why Sega would wait so late to reveal a PC version. I don't see it happening.

    Jack shit.
You are now aware that a PC version has been slipping for months and that SEGA does PC releases after the console version. Never at the same time.

I'm not 100% sure Generations' DLC will be like that. Probably extra missions, and maybe because this is an anniversary game, we get references to the Adventure games with seasonal HUB upgrades.
Still, I am saddened there is not yet a confirmed Ice stage. The 3DS can still get 06 and Unleashed's snow levels though!(I am not expecting handheld levels, to be honest.)

I guess I wasn't thinking when I posted that. I guess it is still a possibility that a PC is coming out after all. But who knows how much longer it will be than the console version. This game is so amazing I don't see anybody wanting to wait, better graphics and framerate or not.

Evidence. Pretty much backs up my own theory:

One thing that does trouble me about this not being the ideal version is that none of Sega's Sonic titles on Steam have achievements. Not even the new SADX re-release. I can take no themes or skins, and can tolerate no DLC for the cheaper price that keeps floating around, but no precedent for Steam achievements in Sonic games gives me a feeling that this version may be gimped more than we know.

Why would they have updated the steam registry with preorder bonuses then?

Someone at GAF pointed out that the D2D preorder is limited to the same countries as GFWL, it could be just a coincidence but it might use GFWL instead of Steamworks, and that could give it DLC and Achievements

  12. Oh I expect if they do any sort of adding levels via DLC it will be one level per Era. If they threw in some level diversity...:

    Classic Era

Sonic the Hedgehog 3: Ice Cap Zone

Sonic 3 is NOT forgotten in this winter and underground/cave zone! Classic Sonic travels through the mystical Ice Caverns ala IceCap while Modern runs on, slides down, and around the glaciers ala IceCap from Adventure and Cool Edge from Unleashed. Throw in some elements from other Ice levels and I'll be sold.

    Dreamcast Era

    Sonic Heroes: Hang Castle
Travel through this crazy supernatural twisted castle! I can see some horror elements from Mystic Mansion and other games like Sandopolis making it into this level.

    Modern Era

    Sonic Colors: Starlight Carnival

This would encompass the space and flying fortress tropes. Classic would run through the buildings ala Flying Battery while Modern would run through SPACCEEE.

This has probably been said in the past but I was rewatching that three eras compilation and noticed that the Sonic Heroes footage showed Sonic without Tails or Knuckles following him. What the fuck?

Loops in heroes tend to bug the followers making them lag behind, after a while they just rubberband back.

If they did Ice Cap Zone I think it would be sweet if the Modern version a remake of the DC version.

Sega plz officially confirm a PC version plz, it would be great if you did!

  18. I don't understand why people hate GFWL. All it really does is give you a little Xbox 360-like interface while you're playing the game, and you don't even have to use it.

I like it because I can chat with my friends who are Xboxing while I Fallout 3 on my PC. Which I bought from Steam. Also the achievements count towards my gamerscore, which is nice.

  19. If we're going to start speculating on DLC levels, etc., then I have to ask:

    Where is the airship zone?!

Seriously, that's like one of the really big ones. Wing Fortress, Flying Battery, Sky Deck, Egg Fleet, whatever! There totally needs to be something.

Based on the level selection, I think it should be this. :P

Hm. Well, if this is going to become the DLC Levels I'd Like to See in Sonic Generations thread, I might as well chip in too!

I'll stick to levels from games already featured in Generations, and try to fill as many level tropes as I can. These being optional DLC levels, difficulty of the original zones is not taken into account with the level order. Everything is chronological.

    Sonic 1 - Spring Yard
Casino Night aside, there aren't that many notable casino levels I'd pick over others from their respective games. Similarly, the other levels from the first Sonic already have their tropes filled on this list (or in the actual level list), so Spring Yard is an obvious candidate. I could see some nods to Collision Chaos in the Classic act. The only problem with this choice is that I can't really think of anything to make Generic Sonic's act stand out.

    Sonic 2 - Metropolis
Suddenly, everybody hates me. Okay personally, Sonic 2 only has three really notable levels: Casino Night, Chemical Plant, and Metropolis. I picked Metropolis to fill in the industrial base trope, similar to Scrap Brain, Death Egg (S3&K), and Final Egg. Thanks to its trope having a lot of notable levels attached to it, both acts are well open for referencing other levels in the series.

    Sonic 3 & Knuckles - Hydrocity
Yeah, yeah, I know. You're all saying, "why another water level? Seaside Hill's got that covered." It's only one third a water level, that third being part of Classic Sonic's act. If anything, Seaside Hill is more of an extreme Aquatic Ruin. This game deserves a REAL water level, and that's where Hydrocity comes in. It's by far the obvious choice, not only very recognizable thanks to being the second level of Sonic 3, but also a very nice looking level on its own. Generic Sonic's act could see lots of throwbacks to parts of Aquarium Park from Sonic Colors.

    Sonic Adventure - Lost World
This is where my memories start to fade. I don't remember either of the two Adventure titles very well, so my choices are mainly going by what other people have said. I've heard a lot of praise for this level, or at least a lot of praise over other levels. It fits the bill for the ruins trope, notably being one of the few to not be based around sunken or floating ruins; this is also its unfortunate downside. There aren't too many nods to be made that aren't to other water levels of the series.

Sonic Adventure 2 - Pyramid Cave
I remember Sonic Adventure 2 even less than I do the first. Still, this seems to be a popular level, and I'll admit the music is pretty awesome. One benefit to having this level: its opening for sections based on Sandopolis Act 2 in Classic Sonic's act. The two are definitely similar, and having throwbacks to Sandopolis will help the level feel more classic.

    Sonic Heroes - Hang Castle
It seems a lot of people wanted this level in the first place! From what I've seen, this is either the fan favorite zone, or the second fan favorite. While it's definitely interesting for being almost one-of-a-kind in its style, I don't remember much about it, so there's very little for me to say.

    Sonic 06 - Flame Core
Similar situation to Hydrocity, this time being with a level from the same game. I have yet to see proof that Crisis City is a lava level. It might be a fire level, but I doubt it's a lava level. And since I can't think of any other levels from this game, I'm going with Flame Core as the representative lava level.
    Lava level.
This level is very open to references for both Classic and Generic Sonic's acts. Lava Reef for Classic, Red Mountain for Generic. Pretty simple.

    Sonic Unleashed - Cool Edge
This is the one I've been waiting for. There really is no other choice. Ice Cap references for both Sonics? Fuck yes. I don't think I need to say any more.

    Sonic Colors - Sweet Mountain
It honestly took me a while to think of a good candidate here! With the exception of Aquarium Park, most of Colors' levels are pretty unique, either being combinations of tropes or tropes not seen before (cough cough Asteroid Coaster cougdghds). Then there's the possibility of Tropical Resort being Colors DS' representative level in the 3DS version, so throw that out the window. I eventually settled on Sweet Mountain. Definitely the strangest level in Colors, there's not a lot to go on for references. Nonetheless, it's a very recognizable level, and a decent cap to this huge fucking wall of text dear god what am I going with my life
