  1. I noticed that too, how the camera follows sonic's every move. It made me a little dizzy, granted I was high, but that's how I like my classic sonic.

Not only in the UK, apparently they can deliver everywhere, and it's only £2.95 for Europe. If this means I can get a physical CD/DVD and I won't need to deal with Steam, I might preorder this for real. £17.99 + £2.95 = £20.94 = €23.567 which is reasonable.

How can I be sure that I will receive an actual CD/DVD and not a voucher for a free download or something like that? :|

edit: preordered just in case. I will have time to cancel the order eventually.

So, is anybody working on a way to enable Modern Sonic's stage in the PS3 version? Given that it has custom firmware, I'd imagine that'd be easier.

  4. For those pre-ordering at £17.99 from GAME online, bear in mind that it's a pre-order. And that if the price was to radically change to say, ~£40 similar to that of Console prices, you will be charged / won't get it for £17.99. Place holders be place holders yo.

Personally, sounds like a mid morning trip to Gamestation on the day of release for myself when it comes out.

    Actually

  6. I'm still one to believe they'll pull a 'pricing error' stunt or what not if my theory is to be correct. But hey ho, if that's how they go~

I guess I'm seeing negative in the situation. I mean, sure it's cheap and such, but my non-pc gaming persona may influence my opinions regarding prices.

I don't think that can be done legally anywhere.

You'd be wrong. If a dealer mistakenly prices something too low, causing lots of people to order, the dealer can cancel the orders. It's pretty much standard practice in western capitalism that prices on goods are not necessarily final and binding, but rather an invitation for you to bargain -> invitatio ad offerendum.

Must be a Spanish thing, then.

I hope the price stays that way. Even if the PC version will probably lack some stuff like SEGA's conversions usually do, it might even perform better than the console version in high-end computers.

YES! A PC VERSION! Thank you Sega! I'm so happy there's a PC version of this game since I don't have a Xbox 360 or PS3. Definitely Preordering this game, but I think the PC version will lack some stuff the Console versions may have such as the DLC and that Preorder Casino Night Pinball Mini Game. When I hear boss keys indeed the first thing that came to mind was Zelda lol. Now all it needs is the "DA NA NA NA!!!" jingle and we're good to go.

  11. Personally, I don't find the reduced price that ridiculous at all. Going off exchange rates £17.99 is roughly $30 USD (Like $28.74 more accurately) Like people were bringing up earlier, Capcom released Dead Rising 2 at $20 less on PC than on consoles. Since Generations is going to retail at about $50 USD, the pattern fits. SEGA could've seen Capcom's success with PC pricing, or a much more likely scenario, SEGA is reducing profit margins to get their product out the door. I think the $50 price tag says a lot about their strategy here: Deliver a quality product (C'mon guys you know the game's gonna be awesome!) at a lower price than the competition (Most games retailing around $60 at launch) to encourage a higher adoption rate. If more people have a good Sonic game in their hands, more people will tell their friends "Sonic's finally back! The Sonic Cycle is broken!" And that will be GREAT for SEGA because their entire goal for this project is to increase Sonic's brand equity. Its no secret Sonic's had some less than stellar games in the past. And we all know that since the Sonic games have had a lower perceived quality (Along with a lower real quality but that's not really the point of this thought exercise) SEGA has been steadily performing worse with all their products. SEGA is Sonic, and they have been since 1991.

All of the care they're putting into the product? Its not really to please the fans. Its a stunt to make Sonic more competitive, thereby increasing the entire corporation's clout. The focus on Classic Sonic is an attempt to associate themselves with the good Sonic games of the past, and not in the half-assed way they've tried for every game since at least Heroes. And they're going to make it as cheap as possible. The entire focus of the PC version is to boost the brand, so they'll sell it at a pricepoint where they can break even retail and make small profits from digital distribution. So that £17.99 pricepoint? In my opinion, totally, 100% legitimate. The consoles are where they're going to try to make their profit, and even there they're going to price lower since SEGA's looking at the long-term here and not the short-term.

So I wouldn't worry too much about paying extra if the price is wrong. Worst case scenario GAME online cancels your order since they can't legally take your money without your consent. Best case scenario (And the most probable one) the price is right and you get Generations at 60 FPS on the cheap :)

    Some random RPG project.
    PC VERSION - YES!!! :v:

I've been waiting for a good retro-gameplay Sonic title for years. I'm so excited I even bought a new video card just so I could play this and Skyrim when they both come out! Now I'm just waiting for that steam demo...

Something fun I just noticed: I bounced off a masher right as it was about to get too low on the bridge for me to reach it, and Classic Sonic did a very Modern Sonic sort of "trick bounce" animation like after you homing attack something...

I didn't get it on video, unfortunately.

On my butt in front of the computer. Where else?
I'm working on working up the willpower to work on learning how to make my own Sonic fangames. Not quite there yet.
Might be a holdover from the disabled Homing Attack he's apparently got buried in the code or some such.

EDIT: Ah, I remember seeing something like that during one of my runs, too. I thought I was imagining it at the time.

    Doing absolutely nothing
I got that too, no idea how I activated it though. I think it has to do with chaining off of more than 2 badniks.

Did it by any chance also feel like you were being forced into a vertical bounce?

Damn, Chimpo beat me to it. But at least this shows that there's multiple "trick bounce" animations:
