It looks really cool and is a nice idea. The art looks really good, and pretty much matches it exactly. My only question (for nothing other than pure curiosity) is why you chose Sonic 2.

I can't answer for Stephen, but the general consensous is that Sonic 2 is more flexible than Sonic 1, and simpler to hack than Sonic 3.

    Trapped in my own thoughts.
Two stageplays, a screenplay, and an album
Safe to assume you'll be implementing the recent music leaks fairly soon?

Precisely. You should have been around on the first X-treme "leak". =P

Anyway, I still hadn't listened to the actual tracks and thought they might have been just a joke, so disregard that comment.

I made a Chopper sprite. If you like it I can make the jumping frames too.

Since this is going for an old-school style, wouldn't it make more sense to keep the rehashed badniks changed to a minimum, rather than advance-izy them?

The old sprites were designed with a simplicity that made them look good at that size, something that might not happen with more detailed graphics (details that would get lost on a real NTSC display).

I personally think keeping the classic design of the badniks would be better, but I don't know what he plans on doing with them yet, so I just made that out of boredom. I agree with the details will be lost on a real NTSC TV.

Hmmm, I like the "new" style, maybe not for "old school" but since this is "Sonic 4"...New badniks ftw.

You should definitely do the new badniks since the whole point of the game was Eggman upgrading old stuff.

    Hey guys.

EDIT: On second thought the left arm is way too short I'm gonna fix that up.

EDIT again: OK I think it's good now.

Wow I like it a lot. Hopefully you're planning to animate the quills?

It looks sort of weird, like Sonic's chin is behind his belly, as though we're seeing him from below. Because the sphere of his head is larger than the sphere of his belly, his chin should really be in front, right?

Other than that, though, great job.

Chin behind belly? Shade the top of the belly, like the chin is casting a shadow down on it = problem solved.

The face needs intense work, maybe get some stuff from the Sonic 3 sprite?
    just a rubbish concept

  20. The face in my opinion doesn't need intense work. He does look like he's facing down abit. But if this stays consistent to future animations than it shouldn't be a problem. I like it!
