First thing I checked was the object entries. Their pointers are at the same location as Rev 01. Sonic entry in Rev 00: 19F5C Sonic entry in Rev 01: 19F50 So this is indeed different. And it is in the program code. I bet bug fixes!
I posted this back on SCARZ: While entering the Level Select and debug codes, I came across Sound Test #02, EHZ. This song is definitely different from r01, with some quieter notes.
I played a few levels (concretely Emerald Hill and Death Egg), and found no noticeable differences. Sonic 2 is not my favourite game though... I should try to view the hex code too. By the way, could you LocalH update the links on your signature? I am a registered member at Area 51, and sometimes go to lurk the topics (LOst please don't delete me...)
Oh forgive me LocalH, the deal is, we have two links to the Area 51: http://www.projectnemesis.ibforums.com/area51/forums/ http://ssonicnet.com/area51/forums/index.php And both are right, don't matter.
Well, since it says version, I guess that must be the correct term. The "revision" stuff was made up by Cowering and isn't something you'd see in any official SEGA documents, as you've just quoted. EDIT: By the way, there's so many small things that were changed between v00 and v01, even where the data isn't shifted. Would it be possible to make a disassembly of just the changed stuff so you could choose between both versions when compiling the ROM?
