...good to see we're still as passionate about Sonic 2 as ever.

But simmer down with the pit thing. Let Team Stealth-Tax do their thing.

Not where I want to be.
Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
We're not actually obstructing them. But okay.

And to think one of my friends refuses to believe there were "classic" fans arguing over the color of the sky in Sonic 2 HD.

Also, a finished Hidden Palace zone that fits into Sonic 2's level design etiquette would be heavenly, but I'll keep my feet nailed to the ground, and that would include drafting a new boss as well. Having Sonic 2 remastered natively alone, instead of wrapped up in an emulation package, is going to be nice. I don't have an android device yet, (Don't plan on taking the smart phone route, so a mini-tablet will do.) but when I do, these are going to be great apps to look forward to buying first thing.

Not explicitly, but when you're in a topic about the game and suddenly a design argument breaks out... well, you can see where this can go.

I'm rather surprised (pleasantly, mind you) that this didn't immediately turn to "zomg add the Hidden Pallus and Gene's Cider City" but I'd like to think we grew out of that years ago.

...not like I'd mind HPZ returning, but it's not a deal breaker if it can't be done.

I don't, really. This is their project, and they are free to ignore everything we say. This isn't Project Retro :specialed:. But again, this is just one of those polarizing issues and I don't really want to continue the argument any further anyway.

But seriously, add Gene's Cider City. If it doesn't have a huge statue erected in Gene's honor and an appropriately amber palette for the underwater segments, I am going to be so pissed.

hey guys don't forget the pseudo-composite filter this time (he said, knowing full well there won't be one). It actually makes a difference in Sonic 2:

    Trapped in my own thoughts.
Two stageplays, a screenplay, and an album
I assume the waterfalls will be redone entirely, much like the flickery lights in Sonic CD. If proper transparency is an option, it'd be a waste not to use it.

This isn't exclusive to waterfalls - that's just the best example of the technique being used effectively

the idea is that every time you get this pattern (left), the composite filter averages things out (right). This applies to every pixel on-screen, and it's used all the time for subtle little things, not just waterfalls and chemical plant tubes

it's a nitpicky thing but the games are meant to look a bit blurry. Sonic CD is a much bigger offender than Sonic 2 though.

I don't believe Sonic 1 2013 messed with any of the waterfalls in GHZ, so I don't think that kind of smoothing is going to happen this time around either.

I'm wondering if any edits will be made to the Special Stage, similar to how the previous two games were smoothed out (though if I remember correctly, didn't a previous mobile version of Sonic 2 do that?).

Guess you haven't been following the thread E-122-Psi. Taxman already said that when information sites revealed the game would be 60 FPS that it applied to all aspects of the game. Implying the special stages too.

Theres still licensing and additional cost to get games running on other systems involved. Its not always possible to just "Convert to ___ system." At least in the case of the Retro Engine, all of those machines will be fully capable of running those games.

There may be developers interested in doing cross platform purchases, but in terms of developers putting forth the effort I'm still not getting behind that.

And it was brought up back when Sonic CD came out, so I wouldn't expect any changes regarding blending colors or making new transparencies, except for any rapid-blinking stuff (which I assume was done so it would look correct in slow devices).

Are you sure that you didn't mean to switch your music choices for WZ and CCZ around? The steel drums and low flute in MCZ2P's music sounds great for a jungle/wood forest type level and the big band horns and whatnot in CNZ2P's music would definitely fit in with a big city style trope.

Also, wasn't Dust Hill confirmed to be a Sonic CD stage? Team Tax had a recreation of it lined up for Sonic CD 2011 and everything.

    Sigh... What could've been....

I thought it was Team Tax-Stealth?

God when are we ever going to get an official team name for this dynamic duo?!?! D:

Honestly I just want to keep our mouths shut about Wood Zone and Hidden Palace Zone but be optimistic that they are going to be there, I feel like too much talking about those 2 will jinx things. maybe I'm just being paranoid, I'm pretty exaused...

One is Head-Cannon, the other is Christian Whitehead.

I propose it be the awesomely named Christian Cannon.

Or we can be boring (and kinda sick) and stick with Whitehead Cannon.

I like Stealth-Tax, though. Sounds menacing. Like a ninja IRS agent.

The same instruments that can be applied to a jungle type level can also be applied to a desert one, especially that Australian didgeridoo sound. I'd say Mystic Cave's 2 player music would fit both Wood Zone and Dust Hill Zone. But since Dust Hill Zone was going to be re-purposed into a Sonic CD level for the 2011 port, I guess that music would go to Wood Zone, and Casino Night's 2 player music would go to Cyber City.

The fate of Emerald Hill's 2 player would be left up in the air though. In the event that a new Sonic CD port is made with Desert Dazzle or other scrapped levels, perhaps Emerald Hill Zone's 2 player music would be re-purposed for one of those levels. I seem to recall that "R2" was going to be a level with rainbow waterfalls, so I think Emerald Hill's 2 player music would fit that type of level too.
