You could always make your own art for certain Bgs?

Yes, that's what I'll probably end up doing...

You know, Amazing Arena had two palletes in Knuckles Chaotix... I wonder, if I ever get around to learning ASM (too busy right now with school), if I could do something like Chaotix did and have you have to turn on the clocks to beat, otherwise after you passed the act you'd simply restart it.

When I ported Isolated Island to Sonic 2, It brought all he backgrounds with it. The only problem I had was I needed to re-arrange the tiles and change the BG deformation.
Although I didn't get the 8x8 tiles from the ROM, I used the Chaotix savestate for everything. Using the ROM, the Foreground and Background 8x8s are in different chunks.

Ack, another reason I hated Chaotix...

I personally didn't like Amazing Arena very much. The clock thing and the music were bleh.
Levels in Chaotix get to use all the different pallete lines the Genesis has, as sprites are MARS.

Amazing Arena was my favorite Chaotix level...

but point taken, I won't try to have a lightswitch in it here.

By the way, is there any way to get the ESE level select into a SonED edited ROM without screwing it up?

    1) Take a copy of a blank Sonic 2 ROM.
    2) Open it in ESE, therefore screwing it up.
    3) Make a copy of this screwed up ROM.
    4) Change the level select.
    5) Compare the two and find what changed.
    6) Stick that into a non-screwed Sonic 2 ROM.

..just guessing though, can't say I've tried it, but I reckon ESE doesn't move where in the ROM the level select stuff is.

Here's what I'm working on for CPZ... not really a custom level, because I'm working around pre-existing 128 data and the like, but I still like it...

I like your other work, but I'm not to fond of that lastest CPZ image, it just looks way to slapped together with random things.

Continuing my usual style of jumping randomly from level to level, here's EHZ's slot.
And I agree that the CPZ does look a bit "randomly thrown around"...

That looks nicer, but I suggest more color, that looks more NESish

That's pretty good, but you should make it more 16-bit than 8-bit, like someone else mentioned. Either way, you're doing a great job, and I can't wait to play your hack.

Yeah, looks pretty good. I'd REALLY tone down that blue before you add more detail though. It kinda hurts the eyes after a while. :P

By the way, that level is ported directly from the GG version of Sonic 2, hence it's NES-like graphics.
