  1. This was made from pure awesome. It's such an amazing idea! How did you come up with this?

I did however notice that on some bosses there was a lot of flickering. And as I went back to take screenshots, they were gone... I was playing as Sonic the first time, and Tails the second, that might have made a diffrence...

Also, I personally didn't like the clashing scenery, for example in Aquatic Ruin's boss, and Mystic Cave's boss. Otherwise, epic win.

EDIT: Forgot to say, Maybe Knuckles playable?

  2. I have an idea you can implement, how about having the game show how many times you died at the "Results" screen? And also maybe the longest time you went without getting hit by a boss? And maybe even a special congratulatory message if you beat all the bosses without getting hit at all?

  3. This hack is amazing! I really enjoy this one...because it's an awesome idea to combine all the bosses from Sonic 1 + 2.

It would be AMAZING though if you could add the S3&K bosses in the future, but as of now I'm having a blast with this hack.

This is a completely fantastic hack with a great concept.
This will keep me playing for hours now.

I took over 15 minutes when I played early, I need a LOT of practice!

    Anyway brilliant technical hack!

The best thing to do is just keep playing it repeatedly, because every time, you'll figure out something that'll make a tough boss go quicker.

The major ballbusters for me at the moment are Scrap Brain (the damn watery climb) and Final Zone. If anyone knows a quick way through Final Zone's boss, tell me... that's been murder for my time result every time I've played.

  10. There isn't any quick way through Final Zone unfortunately, the "quickest" is hitting him every single time he appears.

Actually, you can hit him two times when he appears, but it's pretty hard. Wrong. But if you'll hit him once more when he has no hits left, it goes up to 255 d:

No. Sadly enough you can hit him twice only on the last hit. For all the other hits there is a check that prevents you from hitting him twice in a row, but for some reasons that check won't work after the "last" hit.
The only hack (afaik) where this has been fixed is Stealth's Knuckles in Sonic 1, where you can hit him once also on the last hit.

    being an asshole =P
Because when the last hit is given, the piston doesn't flash like it does with the rest of them. I assume the game checks if it's flashing to prevent hitting more than once.

I think what you need to be more praised for is your extension of the Sonic 2 Death Egg Zone. I always felt this area was heavily underused and this combined with the Chemical Plant's graphics have given it such an amazing expansion.

Personally I love the no rings mode. Now that is irritatingly fun...particually when you reach the final boss and fall straight through him onto his arm...

  15. Actually, I may have found an easier way. Before the final boss comes out of the ground, stand to the far right of him, as far as you can go.

When he rises up, his feet will be directly in front of you. Proceed to hit him as many times as you want. Hit him in the bottom right corner of his rear and you should be able to get a few good hits. This works well because being behind him makes you much safer in terms of how he can hit you. The only attacks I have found that can hit you are his actual falling attack, and his Egg Rockets.

I will test this now to see if it will work, as I am not 100% sure you can even get behind him..even though I swear I have done this before.

EDIT: Yeah, It does work. Just avoid his after burners when trying to hit him.

Also I have made a major discovery which should speed up fight against the Final Boss.

When that target on where he will drop on you comes up, I have realized that whatever direction you are currently facing when the blinker locks onto you IS THE DIRECTION THE ROBOT WILL FACE WHEN HE LANDS. This is very helpful to get behind him and repeat the same procedure again. Just note that he will use his Egg Rockets which will land where you are standing, so stand back away from the bot to ensure the Egg Rockets don't interfere wit your attacking the main bot. When I was playing, I couldn't hit the bot because the egg bots were in the way, and by the time they exploded, the bot was flying away to strike again.

I used to just play the Final Boss on Sonic 2 over and over until I had down a quick strategy to taking down the boss. Using Sonic, since he can jump high enough, one can hit the boss while it's walking by timing the hits so that Sonic hits the boss just above the claws, and then push the opposite direction when he hits to avoid going through this. I've got 6-8 hits (sometimes even more) on him several times before the boss could jump offscreen. Also, to avoid falling through the boss when hitting him, I have found that pushing the opposite direction at the instant Sonic hits has proven to be the best way to avoid falling through the boss.

I may do a video of my quick Final Boss method if I can find the time to do it.

Err, RGamer2009, that's not the boss in question.

"Final Zone" refers to the area named as such in the last part of Sonic 1, where you fight the final boss consisting of the four pistons that shoot up or down two at a time. This boss is a comparative hassle, since there aren't any significant time-saving strategies aside from just managing to hit him every time he appears.

You're thinking of the last boss in Sonic 2. That guy really isn't a problem at all...

Yes, that's the method I use. It works relatively well, and doesn't take too long to get the timing right.

I *finally* beat 10 minutes, and without saves! My current time is 9:15:03. Still trying to go for that "S" grade. :-D

I watched one of the speed-run videos on YouTube, and saw the method of Spin Dashing the living crap out of the Mystic Cave boss; that was a *huge* help. I could do a little better on Casino Night, though; I'm staying on the right side and only getting one or two hits in when he goes over there.

Talking about my video right? :P

Just pretty much follow what I did... except don't mess up as much as I did in the video....
