So, all I have to say about this is that I like it so far. Classic Sonic's jumping is a bit weighty, but the game is designed around the different physics. They're definitely way closer to the original than S4's, though.

  2. I think we can safely assume after this Sonic 4 Episode 2 will receive a giant boot up the arse if not multiple boots which also has me wondering if Episode 2 might actually be half enjoyable. Don't tell anyone I said that though :ssh:

Just want to go back to something I was speaking to Cooljerk about earlier in the thread. This was the video I was talking about with Webber discussing the physics. "Emulating the physics of the originals as much as possible" is close enough to saying "we're trying to make the physics work like in the old games" in my books. They are a damn sight better than Sonic 4 but, still far from the oldies imo. I'm enjoying them now I've gotten used to them though. :v:

From what I understand about Casino Night in Generations HD, it's just a little pinball minigame, not a stage. Not much is really lost in terms of stages then. But I still won't give up hope for DLC of new stages not on the disc.

Please don't take this as moaning about DLC. It's really not, it's general speculation.

It would be really, really awesome if there are going to be more DLC zones instead of just acts like in Unleashed. Even though Casino Night is already on the disc, it does make me somewhat hopeful for future additions to the game. Given the nature of Generations they could keep it alive for a very long time.

I wonder if the DLC stage will be similar to Sonic Adventure's Casinopolis Pinball? It was a fun little casual mini-game. Too bad I live in the UK, this offer isn't available for me.

By the way, does anybody know the progress of the guy who's ripping the textures from the demo?

Looking through the texture files, Giant MotoBug apparently, along with a giant Buzzer.

This fits hand-in-hand with one of the missions named Giant Batabata (those fish badniks)

On my butt in front of the computer. Where else?
I'm working on working up the willpower to work on learning how to make my own Sonic fangames. Not quite there yet.
Just in case anyone doesn't know: the demo supports custom soundtracks on the PS3. So we now have a practical use for these music rips. :v:

All of that sort of thing will likely be in that thread.
I guess that I haven't read any OMG IT'S A PISS POOR UNPLAYABLE POS, is a good sign. Though I haven't played it for myself. Are the physics closely comparable to any existing Sonic games'?

Ok, I think Sega might need our help. Here are 2 textures that are for loading screens. I save them as png, so I don't mess with the "quality" of the sprites.

I know when I watch that walking animation on loading, it seems sloppy and unbalanced.

  13. So is it true that Modern GHZ is in the demo files? If so, I'm guessing we have something close to the preview build that we saw back in April, and the Modern level's just been dummied out.

Very odd that Sega would decide to distribute this though, it's got a crapload of unfinished content in it, and they're bound to know that the fanbase harbours some VERY dedicated people.

I'm sorry? The assets for City Escape, Chemical Plant and Speed Highway are in the demo.

Yes. Modern Green Hill is fully playable. In fact, by enabling the (level select?) screen, you can choose between Green Hill, Chemical Plant and Speed Highway. Of course, trying to load any of the later hangs the console up on the loading screen, and you have to hard reset, presumably because the audio files are missing (or other things).

Wouldn't it be possible to replace the missing files with placeholders?

    This. 1000 times this.

Basically yes I want this game to be Sonic 4'd, abused beyond all reason so I know everything months ahead of time.

Overall, it's a pretty solid list of levels I've liked from the past few games, I just wish there was more zone trope variety. I love city levels, but 4 is a bit much, and we don't need two GHZs in one game. I'm estatic to see Sky Sanctuary, Chemical Plant, Planet Wisp, Speed Highway, and City Escape in HD. The others I am as well, just not as much. Crisis City could've easily been replaced with a level from Sonic CD instead, especially with Metal Sonic being a boss.

5 acts per stage is great though, especially if there's missions and the like for each as well.

  20. Those Sky Sanctuary textures look AWESOME. I can't wait to see that level.
