If this is old I'll accept the shout of OLD and fail, but... If anyone (like me) gave up on Wing Fortress' uber bastard boss and went for the 1-up to the right of the arena, did they notice it hadn't been placed yet? Seems that little prize was thought of later?

Well, yeah, =P But as discussed, it's yet another thing they crammed in during the few weeks left before the final release. They must've worked 18-20 hour days to code in all the stuff they did at that stage. Personally I'd have thought a 1up monitor might have been lower down the priority chain when this proto still has a few bugs in need of ironing out.
I will release the disassembly of this beta soon. All Levels finished. Now I am starting dissassembly of Special Stages.

Thinking about this some more, I wonder which BETA was used for the Sonic 2 Genesis USA Commercial? BETA4 has the same title Screen BUT Chemical Plants loops are Square and they are still slanted in that Commercial.....
They could have just raided their video archives for Sonic 2 footage to put together the commercial, so it could have footage from various stages of development.

If mentioned before, I apologize. In demo mode, holding A+B+C has a similar if not the same effect as doing this in Sonic 1's demo mode.
As in screws up the Demo ? It seems there is still a fair bit of Sonic 1 stuff in this build. The spike bug for one thing is still present.
See that's something that bugs me. A lot of people seem to think that the "spike bug" is really a bug, but it wasn't fixed in the first revision of Sonic 1 even though it was well known that it was present. Now we have this prototype and look how far into development the "spike bug" existed. Isn't possible sega wanted that to happen with the getting hit twice quickly by spikes? That's not a bug it's a feature!
The death pit in Mystic Cave makes that pretty obvious. I wonder if the spike...feature would've affected Super Sonic as well? I don't know how many times I've fallen in that damn pit and had to wait for my rings to run out.
Ooh, off topic... anyone ever see a comic about that situation somewhere? I saw it a long time ago and can't remember it anymore. It was part of a series but I forgot its title.
