I got to Level select just by holding down A and hitting start. Take that as you will. Holding A while selecting a level gives debug coordinates but no actual debug mode. (?) This version has level title cards. "Green Hill Zone" in the Level Select is Emerald Hill in the Title cards. HPZ 0 and 1 are unselectable.
All the levels seem to have their final names in the title cards. Metal Sonic in Death Egg Zone comes down mega slow & doesn't change to the boss music. 2 Player Menu is identical to the one in the final. Casino Night Zone tiles are the same as in the final. Since Hidden Palace Zone can't be selected there is probably zero chance that Wood Zone is still in it.
<!--quoteo(post=179865:date=Feb 24 2008, 12:17 AM:name=TheBarAdmin)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TheBarAdmin @ Feb 24 2008, 12:17 AM) You are correct. Also of note, you return to the SEGA Screen after Death Egg.
Has spike bug. "Sonic Got Through Act. 1" "Sonic Got Through Act. 2" Why the dot? CPZ tubes are slower...might just be me though. Wing Fortress has no shooting or plane-blowing-up sound effects, and the thing that flings you forward in the final flings you back instead. No boss music for Metal Sonic or EggRobo. After defeating EggRobo you are not forced to run. No ending (though I was on debug, that might be why)
All the "lost levels" appear to be removed, I checked by manually changing the level number via savestate. Hidden Palace has the same garbled graphics as the final, Wood Zone loads EHZ with the WZ palette etc.
Casino Night Zone is almost exactly the same here as it is in the final. The only difference I could spot was in the slot machines - they have a different sound effect, and matching up 3 "RING" panels doesn't do anything.
- Invincibility stars are different - Passing a lightpost with enough rings automatically takes you to special stage - Special stage ring layout different; ring requirements different; emerald shown is green, collected is blue - All rings lost after special stage
That didn't happen for me. ???? Also, edit mode seems to be broken in this build. I even put in the patchcode (FFFFFA:0001) and it still doesn't work.
sky chase zone - right at the end you see the cloud tiles are broken - don't think this is in the final
- You can get stuck when spindashing into a few rocks in Hill Top (not all of them, though, for some reason) - Theres a different sound to the final in CNZ when you go into one of the grey slot machine things. - If tails jumps onto the first rising pillar in ARZ and it gets broken, this happens: http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/1886/tailsstandtm5.png - Screen doesn't move up/down when you hold the up/down buttons. - Tails gets stuck on the switches in DHZ/MCZ: http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/317/tailsgk6.png (probably in the other betas, but still funny :D) (I'll edit as I get more)
The slots in CNZ don't just not give you a Super Ring - they don't give or take anything. Also, in CNZ2, I hit the first slot machine about 4 times, continued on my way, and get an illegal instruction crash.
Oil Ocean Zone still has some collision and background issues. This last time I died, the background didn't even load properly. The spike bug is especially troublesome here.
While Mr. Heran Bago and I were netplayin' this 2P mode, we noticed some things. -I hit a ? monitor and it gave me Robotnik. I didn't get hit, or lose any rings. -In the 2P special stage, different text. Examples include: "Win twice win all" and "Miles wins" instead of "Tails wins." -2P special stage, towards the end rings glow and side-stripes glow. This is the result of the end goal being loaded. -2P special stage. Cannot jump over other player. However, hitting a mine puts you in front.
HPZ is, according to Tweaker, still in there but collision and art and stuff has already been removed.
Tweaker said IIRC that through hacking you can... ...Turn into items and place them ONCE. ...Not move. Also if you are taking a normal speedrun on EHZ1 and you don't jump above the last diagonal spring there, you might walk through it.
well I don't like Tweaker's answer tell him to change it > kidding wow those things that you stand on to hit the boss in Wing Fortress Zone.. the platforms with the spikes on the bottom, they explode. That makes this a lot harder.
