wondering if they'd have metal/doll versions of the characters for the battle mode

 

they should bring back the cool metallic character skins from Sonic Heroes' multiplayer mode

 

Bringing the Metals in would be cool but they'd need to scale Tails Doll up and have an entirely new Metal Amy, which I feel would cheapen the concept (Metal Knuckles already pushes the envelope tbh). I think it could be Fang and Trip and then bring Mighty and Ray back, but it'd be a bummer for them to be online only characters.

 

I’m wondering if Eggman is playable in the online battle mode?

 

we had an amy doll in mania with the metallic madness boss, that'd make 2 metals and 2 dolls so tails would be less out of place.

 

Sounds like this game will have tons of costumes and such.

I like it, adds reason for coins/medals

Yeah, that was on my mind when I replied actually and is how I'm able to be confident in saying more metals only cheapens the concept. Metal Amy isn't even the worst offender, that honour goes to Scourge's knock off, which went out almost no better than any run of the mill badnik in its only appearance.

 

As long as they retain the console branding and colors on the reversible side unlike Judgment and some other “reversible” games.

Genuinely hoping they get really creative and dig deep for these costumes. I never liked Lego growing up but I love the direction they're going with this. We could have all kinds of alternate costumes, maybe even OVA Knuckles :--)

 

It won't happen but please give us a S.T.C fleetway Amy Rose. Don't have to straight up call it that just be like "Amy with a new hairstyle and clothes!"

Weird that the Eggman lego skin is modern Eggman but if this means the others as minifigs in-game that'd be wild.

 

So we actually are getting minigame battles and not races for online play then? Sometimes I hate when my hunch is right. At least it "explains" no online co-op in that a race mode would technically just be the same thing but that's still lame. I really don't know why online races haven't been a done deal for every mainline Sonic game since 06 but that's Sega for you. There just doesn't seem to be much of an excuse here in particular.

 

We've heard literally nothing about the battle mode, besides it being online and being PvP.

 

Wait, are the battle mode and the minigame PvP different things? Because we do know there's a minigame involved, and I just took that to mean "not the regular gameplay".

Anyway I'm really excited for all the cosmetic we'll probably be able to buy with ring or medals. I hope we get Amy and Tails Doll for the online modes! Plus, I'd definitely like to play as Eggman too. Get me the whole Sonic R cat and beyond.

 

It just says PvP minigame which could frankly mean literally anything. Even a race mode.
