My Retro CDN stockpile grows by the day Brand new old Sonic X-treme screenshots, curtosy of Game Informer #42. They are probably from Sega Gamer's Day 1996. Sonic can get hit. I don't think it's unreasonable to think there were two discs on show that day, and that we have one of them in the form of that "Jade Gully" demo (third screenshot). As I've said in the past though, builds under lock and key and attempts at rewrites/remakes mean I don't know if this was already known. It's certainly not common knowledge because it isn't on the wiki. Someone else sort it out.
I notice it mentioned the Sonic 3D Blast Saturn port would include a couple of new zones. Was that an actual Sega statement, or just GI extrapolating? Because besides the enhanced Special Stages, that certainly wasn't the case.
I'd have to do more research, but I'm thinking a term like "new special stages" could be mistaken for the Saturn game having at least two new zones. If you're not familiar with how Sonic games name their levels it's easy to slip up. I've not seen this reported anywhere else, anyway.
SOJ launched a site for Sonic's 25th anniversary. Seems to just be aggregating existing news updates so far, but it looks nice. http://sonic.sega.jp/25th/ Japan will also be getting a party on June 25th to celebrate.
Anybody else watched the intro to Bosch and had the thought "some of those mirrored cityscapes would make a good parallax scrolling background for a sonic level"
Thanks for posting this, will be very helpful ! This is the first time seeing screens of the stage where the camera follows sonic around. Coffen communicated to me that the camera could lock on to metal via pressing a button and that the stage camera could rotate, but I never seen screens where the screen was offset from the locked on camera of earlier builds that we've all seen in the past.

Is this art of Classic Sonic new? I feel like I keep seeing new art of Classic Sonic on merch, but this is probably all coming from that big licensing book there is for vendors to use. http://hottopic.scene7.com/is/image/HotTopic/10574828_hi?$pdp_hero_zoom$
It kinda rings a bell, but I certainly don't remember ever seeing it before Sonic Generations, so... yeah, probably "neo classic". Is there really a big book with that stuff?
I too have seen that drawing but I can't go much further than "something Japanesey". I think it might actually be pre-Sonic 2.
I thought I remember seeing a book that Sega provides as a resource for merchandise companies. I could be completely wrong though.
During Sonic Adventure Music Experience, they showed some concept-arts from both Adventure games. Source
Bloody hell, that's amazing! It's so cool to see those Sonic Adventure concepts with the Classic Sonic model :D I can clearly see that there's the original Windy Valley in one of those images; but in the picture which shows three images, there's clearly Angel Island and the Mystic Ruins jungle, but what's the middle image showing? A very early Lost World or Red Mountain (judging by the general look of it), or something else entirely? I don't remember seeing anything quite like that area before, unless I'm being dense. This is extremely interesting and I really hope that we get to see high quality versions of these images in the near future.
You know, I was about to reply with it looking like Lost World's background in the out bridge section, but I think that's Mystic Ruins jungle area. It looks like the entrance to Lost World in the far left.
Jerome's, Bridlington, Yorkshire, UK. Fan art of a familiar character adorns the condoms-and-vibrators vending machine in the gents' toilets. Yes. Vanilla the rabbit is being used to sell sex toys.
