Sonic Xtreme footage from The Anti-Gravity Room

I just saw this post on Assembler and thought it deserves its own topic since maybe you guys can find something.

I really wish I could get my hands on copies of this show called "The Anti-Gravity Room" because there was an episode where the host played the metal sonic level for a minute or two. It was a Canadian-American co-production by YTV and the Sci-fi channel mostly about comic books.

If anyone finds an episode list we can probably narrow down the search to a specific time period. I watched a few episodes on Youtube and saw a few game reviews like Battle Arena Toshinden. This game came out in 1995 so that episode is too old for sonic xtreme content...

There's no doubt we'd be looking for an episode released in '96. If I had to wager a guess as to when I'd say not long after E3 (May 16-18). I'll try to dig around too, I'd love to see that footage. Dunno what our chances are here, so hopefully some day we'll be pleasantly surprised.

I get a feeling that's just a generic tag list like you'd see on youtube for videos related to gaming.

I just tried using the contact page on YTV's website to see about obtaining old episodes of their previous programming. I'll be lucky if I even get a response.

I got a response from YTV and it was a generic standard email they send out to anyone that messages. Absolutely zero response to my question, it was just filled with other FAQ stuff like "How do I get on a YTV show?" I never will understand why places like to isolate their public like that.

That's ok. I've got a guy who may have it, he just has to go threw some VHS tapes. There are also a few leads on Senntient that some guys are following as well.. Its out there, and I know it will be found.

It's like Christmas came early for Andrew. If this turns out legit it'll be another great find. Do we know anything about how the boss operated aside from Metal Sonic being in an arena and being xbox hueg?

Hell yeah 1 month early ! Hope the footage is useful!
I did speak with Christina Coffin threw some e-mails regarding the Metal Sonic boss fight controls a few years back.
I really didn't want to share this info publicly till I made a boss engine release with AXSX. ( I did share it on Senntient.com in the past)
Anyways! Here is some of what she said in one of the e-mails:

The L,R triggers were set up to rotate the camera around sonic.
You could also press a certain button on the saturn controller to
'lock the camera onto the boss' so then all of your d-pad movement
would become relative to the boss character.

For example:
lock on mode controls:
left/right on d-pad lets you circle strafe left/right while facing the
boss (good for dodging projectile from mecha sonic)
up made you run towards the boss while the camera is still loiking at
him.
down made you run away from the boss while the camera still looked at
him.

As you can imagine, fighting the boss with the camera in 'lock on
mode' is very useful to dodge harmful things from the boss, and makes
it feel more like a 1 on 1 fighting game which is what I wanted.
Having the unlocked camera mode, where the camera stays in 3rd person
view behind sonic is also useful as well, so it depends on player
preference and certain bosses (I had plans for another boss to spawn
smaller enemies around him that you would have to jump/spindash into
and they go back to fighting the main boss)

Yes it is,, also Gardian sphinx from Xtreme is similar to another Sonic Adventure 2 boss...

Its hard to tell if they used a true Sonic 3D Model as in the below screen or the sprite, I'm going to have to download this bad boy and dissect it frame by frame !
I've known this for some years already but After seeing the gameplay in motion with this demo I'm sure its proof enough that its the same engine used for the 718 (night looking leaked Saturn demo) down to the gameplay mechanics!
Anyways in the screen below: This is another version of that nights demo with different textures and a 3D sonic model instead of a sprite. (The terrain is exactly the same as in 718)
