Sonic the Hedgehog Cinematic Universe Thread (& Knuckles)

I love how Maria's character is so nonexistent that she's just "the girl who gets shot". Like, nobody would ever call Aerith "the girl who gets stabbed".

I've always preferred the backstory that Sonic X seemed to imply, that Shadow's memories are entirely fake and that Maria had basically no relationship with him at all.

 

Nobody who plays FFVII would. I, however…

Does Sonic X really do that though? In some ways I feel like that’s even worse because it makes Maria into more or less not really a character. Like yeah everyone knows her for getting shot but she of course has a little bit beyond that, most importantly being the catalyst for Shadow relearning compassion at the climax of SA2.

 

It does to the same extent that Adventure 2 itself does. That is to say, there is the implication that Shadow could be fake, but it's never confirmed and the story itself heavily implies it's not the case

 

No. There's the scene where the soldier who shot Maria recalls his memories of what happened (which might actually be a cut part of SA2's script) and we just see Maria launch two "ultimate lifeform" pods, without any kind of speech, before being shot (instead of after).

 

Spoiler: Sonic Adventure 2: The truth of 50 years ago...

The idea is that we have no way of knowing if our Shadow is the real one, or if it's a replica. The way they did is different, but the idea is the same, the second capsule is supposed to make you question if the military truly did find the real Shadow

The soldier would most likely not remember Maria's speech, and narratively, there's no reason for her to say it there, it would be redundant, specially because she would be shown doing it the next episode, and it would spoil the scene Shadow remembers what she actually said. She also would have no reason to risk her life ejecting Shadow to earth if she had no relationship with him

Of course, his memories could be fake still, even if I don't think they are. But that was already a part of the story in Adventure 2

Good God I cannot stand the way mainstream movie/TV trailers cut up and mix lines to make them sound like shiiiiiit.

 

Holy shit this show looks way better than I think anyone was expecting. The premise of Knuckles training Wade really soured my view on what this could've been but this looks awesome!!!

I think it may have gotten a minor delay, iirc a good while back we did have it confirmed for February... And here we are.
