    First impressions:

First zone is wonderful. Fast, interesting, full of secrets. I absolutely love how it plays, though it might possibly give you too many lives. I'm not totally sold on suggesting lowering the ring count yet, but that's the biggest criticism I have right now. I left the zone with about ten lives and I didn't play that well.

Second zone is really fun as well. I like the new gimmicks a lot. It feels like the quintessential classic Sonic urban level that we didn't ever quite get. (Starlight Zone is close, but it's more of a highway theme.) Maybe add in some more building-esque tiles to hammer in the trope? Also, one major criticism for this zone. That mini-boss intro is utter bullshit. I had died once beforehand by getting crushed between moving platforms. Fine, no biggie; happens all the time. However, remember how I said I had about ten lives at the end of the first zone? I got a game over facing that mini-boss because it kept crushing me at the very end of the section because I could land far enough to the side. One-hit kills are pretty terrible in general, but for the second mini-boss in the game? Definitely sours the overall fantastic impression of the game I had up to that point.

All in all, though, this is a very professional fangame and I can't wait to see what you do with it.

I'm getting this odd bug where the player's "moving left" sprites don't appear. I tried redownloading, re-extracting, etc., but nothing seems to fix it. I checked a playthrough online that didn't have this issue, so I know it could be something on my end. Otherwise, I'm thoroughly enjoying what I am seeing; though I kind of want to figure out what's happening so I can enjoy the game properly!

By the way, + - Not sure if design choice, but Knuckles' glide bounce can't break monitors for some reason. It also doesn't get as much of that pleasant liftoff that he got in 3K.

That has to do with shaders. It seems that shader effects don't work on all machines. Can you share your PC specs?
+ - Weird. I used values from physics guide. There's one thing I wanna hint at. That badnik at the beginning of TMZ2 is there for a reason.

Edit: Also I don't know if it's miscommunication on my part but everyone seems to credit me on everything which is not true. Most beautiful graphics in the game are made by Pulse0. I'm a hack when it comes to creating original graphics.

This is the best game I've played at this SAGE so far. There are so much improvements from the last demo - more details for zones from the previous demo, new music, animations, spritework plus completely new stage with HUGE load of casino and carnival gimmicks. I pretty much like everything so far, didn't find any major bugs and actually playing it for three days and hunting these medals. Great job guys, I hope your game will go well and get finished in the future.

    Sonic: Retold
I just played the SAGE demo. This game is great, but it's really held back by a single problem, IMO.

Might as well get the good out first though: This game is flipping beautiful. The level and character art is outstanding and clean, and was a pleasure to look at. The enemy design was also really unique, you totally incorporated some ideas I've never seen before. From that aspect, this game is so good, it almost feel official, and the level layouts were really well thought out, with some crazy awesome gimmicks!

However, the major setback... Is the air control. While for the most part, the controls feel just like a classic Sonic Game, there are a few times where the controls plagued me nonstop, particularly during the point where you're being chased by the giant ball. Once you jump, if you had any level of speed, you are committed to that direction, and it's impossible to maneuver yourself in the opposite direction. You can slow to a stop, but not actually reverse direction, unlike the original games. That, kind of ruined the otherwise seamless experience for me. It feels kind of clunky, and made it very hard to precisely control where I'd land. I got flung to my death a good few times.

If that were fixed, then Sonic Neo Genesis would probably be the best game this year, IMO.And to be clear, I do still really like it, there's just some frustration that could be fixed.

More then likely one of the best things at SAGE at the moment. Amazing job Felik. I absolutely love the graphics and music. You and your team have really out down yourselves and I can't wait to see more of this in the near future. Keep up the amazing work.

    Life is life basically.

Also I updated the first post

To elaborate a little I'll say that I've been spending the majority of my free time on this fangame for the past two and a half years.
I still want this to be done. I am going to be a part of the dev team if it is going to take off. And I will be an active member just am not going to be nearly as involved. I don't want to guilt trip people into joining, I am totally fine if it dies out if nobody skilled enough will show interest because I did my best and I am satisfied with what me and Pulse0 achieved together. Pulse0 however really wants it to continue on. I support his desire but as I said I can't be as involved as I used to any more and considering he's an artist without a programmer this project is doomed.

Also don't underestimate Pulse0's involvement in this game. All of the great custom art in the game is made by him. I've been mostly stealing from other games and such. He was making graphics from scratch.

It would be a shame if NG died out, as the work you and Pulse0 have done absolutely has not gone unnoticed. Its always nice to see projects outside of the Sonic Worlds engine just for that diversity, and the art is outstanding.

I definitely hope Pulse0 gets brought out of pending purgatory, as his skills and passion are noteworthy and Retro is a great resource to keep the project alive if at all possible.

I know I shouldn't bump a thread this old, but does anyone know if there's been any progress? Last I heard it was getting moved to Game Maker.

I remember this game being amazing when I first played the demo and I'd hate to see yet another excellent fan game stay stuck in demo purgatory.

Unfortunately, it is discontinued. Although for what it's worth, the last demo has pretty much 100% of work that was done for the game up until that point, so there were not really any new levels in the works that never saw the light of day, or anything.

I'm working on my own game now. Follow my twitter if you're interested, hopefully I will be able to cook up a demo for the next SAGE
