I got an A rank on my first try with Tropical Resort Act 1. With Super Sonic, the highest I can get is a B. ...I think my heart just sank.
Pro-tip: You're not ever going to get an S rank with Super Sonic. S rank is only possible as normal Sonic as you have to be able to abuse Wisp powers in order to get more points. Granted I never quite understood why Sonic games have ranks based off anything besides speed but what are ya gonna do.
They should have made a separate ranking system for Super Sonic mode. That way you could get S ranks, but you'd have to get them as normal Sonic as well. Twice the S ranks to earn as well.
Honestly I think they should have allowed Super Sonic to use Wisp powers, or allow Super Sonic to use whatever wisp power he wanted at any particular time as long as it made sense and you could cancel with Z (It'd be game breaking but that's what Super Sonic is supposed to be).
The DS version would be very hard to do descriptively. You'd need maps, or something. Actually, if we had level maps, I'd be able to point out where all of them are.
Not true. There's a handful of stages that are possible to S-Rank as Super, such as Aquarium Park 1, 4, Starlight Carnival 1, Planet Wisp 1, Asteroid Coaster 1, Terminal Velocity 1, and some of the smaller acts that I can't remember.
I got this game on Tuesday and just beat it today with all red rings. I FREAKING LOVE THIS GAME. Though it was kinda short, since I unlocked up to Asteroid Coaster and finished all of Tropical Resort, Sweet Mountain, Starlight Carnival, and part of Planet Wisp the day I got it. I then decided I'm going to collect all the Red Rings to make the game seem longer, and I finished doing that today with the help of YouTube. + - In the final boss, I realized that not making Sonic go Super was a good decision, because past games have the final boss be a completely different gameplay style than the rest of the game. The other day when my bro was playing Twilight Princess's final bosses, I realized that the final boss should be gameplay that you're used to and that you've built up skill throughout the game with (such as how in TP you first fight as regular Link, then wolf Link, then Epona, then Link again, but in say, for example, Sonic Adventure 2, Super Sonic and Super Shadow play absolutely nothing like regular Sonic and Shadow during the Final Hazard fight). When the game first came out and there was a live stream, I saw the first 6 seconds of the final boss fight, but then I closed it because I didn't want to spoil it. So when I reached the Terminal Velocity boss, I was expecting that the already epic song would play for the entire boss fight. After hitting him a few times, I didn't realize the music actually got quiet and changed until I heard a familiar melody played by an orchestra. I was like OMG WTF EPIC. nearly shat my pants. I didn't expect them to do an orchestrated version of Reach for the Stars because it sounded too "happy", but guess I was wrong, and they did it just fine. And then after more cut scenes played, I was like O_O that there was actually a Terminal Velocity Act 2. EPIC!!! Or at least, that's what I first thought, but then when I beat it, I was like, "wtf, that was hella short". But still, this game is awesome. And so is the Phase 2 music :DDD. But the first song that played during the credits was awful. I breathed a sigh of relief when Reach for the Stars took over. (ironically when I first heard Reach for the Stars I thought it was also awful, lyric-wise. But that other song is far worse) EDIT: Also, since I don't have a PS3/360, I never got to play Unleashed HD. So I had the Wii version of Unleashed, and I absolutely hated it. When I beat it, I was like, "WTF, that game was pure shit", and never touched it again. I beat Colors today, and I was like, "OMG, THAT GAME WAS EPIC!!!!!".
I really have to say that I enjoyed this games movie references. The obvious Taxi Driver scene between the cube bot and Eggman was priceless but what really got me was in the first stage of the Asteroid Coaster, sometime in the middle, Eggman comes on the air and makes that Alien3 reference "In space no one can hear you scream." but after that I can't really make out what he's saying.
"In space, no one can hear you scream... except the person sitting next to you. Please be considerate."
Yeah yeah, I'm doing my best on the maps :P I'm sorta working on a red-ring video walkthrough of each level as well, but I wont be uploading them until I get about half of them done. Only have Tropical Resort down for now. I'll post here again when I've uploaded them. :P
I'm hoping somewhere, whether in the 431 pages of this topic, or somewhere else on the internet, are transcriptions of all of Eggman's PA announcements.
