This game has not been good to me tonight. I've lost about 250 points online. Good lord if I get hit with one more RC car...
The drones are the least of your worries. Once the icon for it starts flashing to indicate it's near, just boost to escape it and send it after someone else. It's quite an interesting change when the lock on weapons are easier to avoid than the free flying ones. The snowballs are such rapid shots you've got no hope of avoiding them if aimed correctly. It's one of the things I like most about this game- there's still plenty of skill involved in the weapon system.
Oh I know that you can dodge em. But they always get me in corridors where boosting is just hard (like a straight away) Or I boost and the game says "Fuck you it's a hit" EDIT: GOD DAMN ONLINE COLLISION! I got tapped by someone and got sent hurdling backwards facing the wrong direction. So I quit. So I'm down over 300 points total today. Fuck this nonsense. EDIT 2: Annnnddd now I'm at 1345. I've literally gone down 400 points since yesterday. BD Joe can go fuck himself btw, only reason I'm playing as him is to unlock the mods. EDIT 3: LADIES AND GENTS. And now I lost another 100 points because Network connection errors that boot you from the game mean you get a penalty. Wonderful, just wonderful. Just reset my fucking score to 1000. I can't take this anymore. I have lost every bit of a decent rank I've had in the course of a day. So just fuck it. Fuck all of it. Now I get to rebuild my rank as I watch and cringe at the pitty points I get for coming in 6th place because I was reamed by some allstar move just far enough away from the finish line that all I can do is lose. But at least I got a blow fish powerup! SO MANY FUCKING BLOWFISHES.
I'm surprised that a lot of people are still playing this game. I might get into it if there's a way to convert a 360 save to a PC save. No way I'm 100% those challenges again. Fuck that noise.
I just acquired a Trainer for it, it was in Spanish, but it covered most of the bases like infinite item usage, maintain boost speed and stop the clock. just blew through the main mode to unlock everything (Well except the mod for AGES, the trainer helps a lot but getting all the stars is the personification of tedium) then get rid of the trainer and play for fun XD
I just downloaded a 100% save for Steam then unlocked all the achievements through other means. My PS3 profile is proof enough I did it legitly, and it just speeds up the whole process for when I want to play online with Retro.
My save file has sentimental value. It's my 100% file. I suffered through the frustration to achieve it. Seriously. Some of those challenges almost made me throw my controller. I never throw my controller in frustration.
Maybe we'll eventually see a more advanced version of cross-save done. Sony isn't against Steam integration with PS3 games, so I feel something like that is very possible in the future.
ASRT to finally be released in Japan. (tentative release date is 2014/05/15) Interestingly, only the PS3 and Wii U versions will be released. The 360 version won't be released for obvious reasons, but they're also not releasing the Steam version there. (Then again, does Steam have region lock in general?)
Interesting. The first was never released there, was it? I only heard rumors (also there was a demo for the first game on the JP 360 marketplace).
According to the Retro Wiki, the original ASR was only released in Japan on iOS. I'm not sure how Steam region-lock works, but I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to get ASR on Steam in Japan.
That'd be unfortunate if they didn't get the PC version as that's the only version that has any support.
I just noticed that Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed on Android is just 1$ today. ...I may bite at that price.
My understanding is that it's done at the point of cash changing hands, by GeoIP - ie if you're buying a game in Russia, and it's not allowed to be sold in Russia but is in the USA, you'll be blocked unless your account is currently sitting on a US IP. After the money's been sent, it doesn't matter. I believe people log into each others accounts in order to do this, though for obvious reasons there has to be a level of trust involved. (I think I'm right on this)
There is gameplay footage of the Japanese Wii U version on Nintendo Direct, and one thing stood out: they appear to have replaced the puffer fish weapon with Junk Puyos. Here's a trailer that shows it better.
That's one thing I never understood with the international version. The items are about as generic as generic can be, while the first game at least used Speed Shoes and Shields from the Sonic series. Now we get... puff fish, fireworks, and purple arrows. Oh and they get to have HofD referred to as House of the Dead and not Curien Mansion.
