The items lacked personality, but were very balanced which helped to make the game far less luck based compared to the recent Mario Kart titles. Hopefully whatever sequel they make in the future will retain that balance, but give the items more personality. Example: Replace the bees (or wasps) from the swarm ability with buzz bombers or something else related to SEGA's history. Same function, but more creative aesthetics.
I'd rather see that patched in to all versions. Blowfish was silly when Junk Puyo was a more apparent choice. Hell, it's already becoming unlikely enough we'll see any of the PC updates hit the console versions.
That's what I mean yea they lacked personality. Swarm should have been Buzz bombers, puff fish should be the junk puyo, boost still could have been speed shoes. The other items could have also been Sega themed too.
Let's give it a try then: • Ice -> ??? • RC Car -> KapuKapu • Rocket -> ChuChu Rocket • Blowfish -> Junk Puyo • Boost -> Speed Shoes • Glove -> ??? • Swarm -> Buzz Bombers
As I recall Sega for whatever reason didn't want Sumo to use Sega themed items and they were mandated to be generic. You can't be Sega without making braindead retarded decisions. I'd imagine they didn't want to go through more licensing or some shit.
http://sonic.sega.jp/SonicAllStarRacing/ From a quick glance, Danica Patrick does not seem to exist in this version... for obvious reasons. In a way, I'd honestly rather have 1 less character slot than have her in it at all.
So the soundtrack is heading to Japan as a preorder bonus. With 18 tracks, it doesn't appear to be the full version. It's a shame really that they don't release it properly... and for Western audiences. Also, I've just realised what a lazy job they've done with the logo; literally pasting Kanji over the English!
...this begs the question, but likely it will be no: will Burning Depths feature the glorious return of Takenobu Mitsuyoshi vocals? That's really the only thing that song is missing.
In the original Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing, the boost was already speed shoes and the glove was... more or less made up in the form of the classic shield from Sonic (it didn't catch the items though, it simply deflected them). Other than that, most of the items were completely different and had no obvious corollaries to the stuff in SASRT
What took soo long for starters? And second, will the special All Star tracks for the 360 avatar, Mii, and Wreck-It-Ralph be in this soundtrack?
I would wager it's because SASRT wasn't made by Sonic Team, so no WaveMaster to endorse a soundtrack. And the tracklist hasn't been revealed yet, so no one knows. Unfortunately, unless someone buys some of the Sonic albums I'm selling, I won't be able to get this soundtrack because I'm jobless and broke. >.>
