I was playing Nemesis' Sonic 3 save state of the unused surfing introduction just like a normal level. I saw the special stage ring and curiously went in. When I came out, there was a shade of black over the whole level. What kind of glitch is this? Here's my savestate:

I probably should get back to work on my site someday...
This appears to be that night mode that is used by the programmers somehow. Maybe you were holding A when you left the bonus stage.

Without looking, it sounds like somehow you enabled shadow/highlight mode, which was used by the coders to ensure that the layer changes were done proper.

And I thought that it was C that enabled it, not A. *shrugs*

    I wasn't holding anything. I'm sure.

  6. I know there's a way to enable it in Sonic 2 final's debug mode, but I'm not sure about Sonic 3.
