How would you redesign Sonic the Hedgehog?

Who was the previous artist?

 

That's something I'd like to know too.

 

Akira Watanabe did the character artwork for Sonic 1, if that's what you mean.

Possibly. But what about the Sonic 3 art? It was different from Sonic 1's and it kicked ass.

 

...I actually really like that.

 

Make his eyes dark green or brown, remove the belts, and streamline the spines a little- I'm sold!

 

So basically, you don't want a redesign.

 

I don't know if I'd like to see that in a 3D game, but that look would certainly fit a 2D sidescrolling Sonic to me, honestly. I wouldn't want to know or understand his personality or motives, but he just kinda looks cool and would work in a 2D environment quite well, no joke.

Man. I'd just love to see a remake of the old Sonic games with this guy. He seems fun, free, slightly demented; in other words, a Fleetway Sonic who looks like he's enjoying himself. Imagine him destroying badniks galore while scaring them like that!

 

Unfortunately, I believe they only did this treatment to Sonic 3D, being the last game of Project Sonic.


And checking the box scans on the wiki, I quickly conclude that Project Sonic LEAD to Sonic Adventure; Sonic Adventure itself is not part of Project Sonic, or at least doesn't have the seal in it.

Well, I simply didn't like the shoes and thought red is an odd choice for Sonic's eyes.
