Guess the store page was only put back up in certain regions then. I guess it was unintentional, sadly.
Lucky me I bought it from the PSN when it was on sale ^ ^ u But still it's ashamed to see it to get delisted...
Castle of Illusion is currently £1.50 on Humble Store, so grabbed it from there before it vanishes. I played it on PS3 but don't mind double dipping for that price. Great little remake.
I know you can disable the narrator's voice in Castle of Illusion, but is it possible to turn off all the voices? I'm watching a walkthrough and they seem really annoying and distracting. I'd also ask if there's a patch that removes the brownishness and realistic dirt from the graphics, but I'm sure there isn't. =P
So in a rare case of a de-listed downloadable Sega game being re-listed: Castle of Illusion is back on Steam. Which I guess means Sega got the license again? I imagine they wouldn't try to get the license just so they could sell the PC version of this again though... EDIT: Back on PSN and XBLA as well.
Only the second time it's happened, right? It seems the developer diaries aren't coming back to XBLA though.
None has been given, but it's easy to speculate why it was relisted. The reason why it was delisted was that Sega's license to sell the game expired. Meaning Sega has has made a deal with Disney that allowed them to sell the game again. I heavily doubt they tried to re-acquire the license just so they could sell Castle of Illusion again though.
The Cave was delisted from Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network in March 2018. The Steam version is no longer Published by Sega (Double Fine is now self-publishing). This obviously prompted the delisting.
The previous posts were from 2017. Castle of Illusion came back after those posts were made so I bought it on PSN for PS3. It was definitely fun. What I wonder is if anyone is backing up these digital download games for play on hacked consoles. The Wiiware games and Wii VC games were all backed up and made available via torrent.
Unless you know something I don't, we are still missing VC and WiiWare games, Korea being the worst as that hasn't been confirmed to be saved at all.
Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth delisted from PlayStation Store in the west as license expires The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions were delisted in January 2021. There are physical versions though.
Dungeon Travelers 2: The Royal Library & The Monster Seal and all its DLC was delisted the week of April 4 - April 10 2020. Don't know the exact date, but as I personally looked at it on the US Vita store on the 6th, it was delisted after that. Lost Dimension for PS3 and Vita have been delisted the week of April 4 - April 10 2020. While you can't buy the game one piece of DLC is still available on Vita, while nine ate still available to purchase on PS3. All of these have physical versions. EDIT: Rollers of the Realm is also gone. Same time frame as the others.
Both Tears to Tiara II: Heir of the Overlord and Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars were delisted from the PlayStation Store some time between May 2021 and todays date June 6, 2021. As far as info goes, for PSN, we at least got the relevant screenshots in full needed for both in some fashion. However, Conception II also had a 3DS version so that is most likely completely lost.
