Demo hit the JP PSN store, if anyone else has an account for that region. Downloading it now to reach the same conclusion as everyone else.
Right after they showed the game's announcement trailer, Iizuka asked the audience in a very desperate tone, “did you like it????”, almost as if saying, “did you guys see Classic Sonic?” As others have pointed out, everything about this game feels like a very misguided attempt to please everyone.
This kinds sums up what I think about the game. It actually looks like a crossover of Sonic 4 EP2 style and Generations, even gameplaywise. I'm baffled you can't backtrack after you hit some automated sections, like a simple spring on the snow level.
I feel bad they're dropping this demo trying to hype it up days before Mario. This sucks. At its best, it's dull and uninspired. We should all just buy another copy of Mania on launch day. Thatd be hilarious if they sold more Mania than Forces

Thanks for the heads-up. Downloaded it with my Japanese account, and switched back to my US account to play it. Can confirm that the Japanese PS4 demo is in English when played on a US account. Still 60 second time limit. Someone obviously doesn't know how to power off the switch when it crashes if they really think it's bricked.
Wow, that Egg Dragoon theme is a massive letdown. I wasn't expecting anything close to the masterpieces we got in Unleashed and Generations, I was at least expecting something resembling those themes. Now that I think about it, I'm surprised that it isn't a late-game chase-styled boss like it was in Generations, especially since Classic Sonic now has the Drop Dash.
I didn't switch back from my JP account, and everything is still in English. Maybe it just detects that the console is English? I've only ever used my JP account for Yakuza demos so that's all beyond me.
