Probably a coincidence, but maybe it's something. The beginning of "Triscope", from Heavenly Symphony - F1 World Championship. http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/Triscope/5eSBhB?src=5 The beginning of Gumball Machine Bonus Stage meh, the only reason why I bring it up is because everyone from the Sega Sound Team contributed stuff for this game and was more than likely the project everyone was working on or jumped onto after 'finishing' Sonic 3. I also like this soundtrack a lot so I felt like posting it somewhere... (note: I wouldn't believe the artist credit for these songs on grooveshark since some of them are incorrect afaik).
This blew up my mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKSjydW2Ik0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT4QOaQgoAw
Months behind but I just saw this. Out of sheer respect for Your Awesomeness, I checked out your forum profile, then even googled "Ben2k9" and I still have no idea who the fuck you are. Sorry, I guess?
Another Gumball Bonus Stage sound alike. This is from the title screen to Game no Kanzume - Sega Games Can Vol.1 (1994), a very obscure game compilation released only in Japan. Jun Senoue arranged some tracks for this and maybe Vol. 2, and it shows in a lot of the tracks. This track in particular sounds A LOT like a bonus stage track for Sonic 3, more so than the other track from that F1 racing game I mentioned before. If you listen to the Slot Machine and Gumball Bonus Stage back to back you'll see some similarities with this. Don't know if it's a coincidence or not. Check it out: http://www.mediafire.com/listen/8a25bp2pt20fxz8/Game+no+Kanzume+-+Sega+Games+Can+Vol.1+%281994%29%28Sega%29%28NTSC%29%28JP%29%28Track+02+of+31%29%5B%21%5D%5Bcompilation%5D.wav A similar sounding track is used for Vol 2's title screen but it doesn't sound that familiar in comparison to anything else. Also semi unrelated to the topic, but even though I don't think it's been confirmed if Naofumi Hataya and/or Masafumi Ogata contributed some tracks for the game you can definitely hear some Sonic CD influence on some of the tracks for Vol 2. Check these out, there are a few more like these in Vol 2: http://www.mediafire.com/listen/d8yvw42u5bxxvlx/Game+no+Kanzume+-+Sega+Games+Can+Vol.2+%281994%29%28Sega%29%28NTSC%29%28JP%29%28Track+17+of+24%29%5B%21%5D%5Bcompilation%5D.wav http://www.mediafire.com/listen/177zyowfplyu17o/Game+no+Kanzume+-+Sega+Games+Can+Vol.2+%281994%29%28Sega%29%28NTSC%29%28JP%29%28Track+19+of+24%29%5B%21%5D%5Bcompilation%5D.wav
I'm having trouble deciphering what is being said in the Sonic CD boss song (JP). I know about the "work that sucker to death", and the rest is pretty clear. At one point he shouts, and it sounds to me like he's saying "get your fuckin' sand towel!". Is this really what he's saying? No matter how many times I listen to it, I swear that's what I hear, but it makes no sense. Why do you need a beach towel when you've got more important shit to do than chill, and would western Sega really allow the word "fuck" in a Sonic game?
Juelz Santana "There It Go" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ptu951OWZ2E Kinda sounds like Knuckles' Theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_T89V6XJ0as
From the Sonic OVA , the Land of Darkness song that kicks in at 0:17 http://youtu.be/-Q_rcmtzvoY Sounds really similar to Whitney Houston "I'm every woman" starting at 1:13 http://youtu.be/H7_sqdkaAfo
In the vid In my last post you'll see it was pretty much me who got the whole Sonic/MJ thing rolling back in 2003, I posted about the CNZ/Jam connection and incorrectly thought it was a tribute but later realised it was a direct sample.
I think this: Sounds a little like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xdd07zFGBP4 Not that either composition is exactly original musically, but I still want to hear a mash of these two.
I think the beginning of that song sounds a lot like: And... It's not Sonic, but I wanted to bring this up, also. I'm not sure if many of you have played "Outrun 2019", but there must have been some inspiration/ripping-off going on here: Outrun 2019 "Try Again 1" Radiorama "Aliens" They really are the same song, right off the bat. :P
Good God, those last two are closer than Hard Times was to Ice Cap. Considering that OutRun 2019 has one of the best 16-bit era soundtracks, this is just full of win.
I don't know if this is already known but...doesn't this ( around 3:15): http://youtu.be/n9HLlgDoRA0?t=3m15s sound like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYJkol00JCE and this( around 5:52): http://youtu.be/lvqOvpMj7u8?t=5m52s with this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWu9O7M0e7Y
A lot of songs are similar to Bridge Zone, but that Puzzle Bobble one is the most spot-on that I've heard so far. Uncanny.
Not sure if this has ever been posted here (or if I ever posted it) but: (specifically 0:47) from Xenoblade Chronicles http://youtu.be/QjiAWFOq_-E (1:02) from Sonic Free Riders https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RWj8lD5CNw Both came out in 2010, oddly.
Okay, am I crazy, or do some of the bass sounds have a REALLY Genesis-like sound to them? Especially around 1:08 Hideaway by Cash Cash from beginning From the time stamp 1:08 It only makes sense with their involvement in Sonic Colors and Generations that they might choose a Genesis sound once in a while. Please tell me I'm not the only one who hears it. XD
