    I'd want something like this:

Genesis/Mega Drive Era (5 stages because the Genesis/Mega Drive was what got Sonic going.)
Sonic 1 - Green Hill because it's Green Hill.
Sonic 2 - Although I really want Mystic Cave, Chemical Plant is a better choice as it is more popular and more iconic when it comes to Sonic 2.
Sonic CD - Collision Chaos. It's where Sonic first meets Metal Sonic, and throughout the stage, you can see Metal Sonic in the background taking Amy away. It can also constitute for the "casino" trope.
Sonic 3 - Hydrocity because it's one of the best water levels in the Sonic franchise, and even if it is a water level, you can still get some pretty good speed going.
Sonic & Knuckles - Lava Reef because I fucking love Lava Reef and it could be the cavern/lava trope. It was hard to choose between this and Fying Battery, though.

    Dreamcast Era (3 stages)
Sonic Adventure - Sky Deck because I couldn't get Flying Battery. There could be some gimmicks dealing with shifting the Egg Carrier's ascent/descent.
Sonic Adventure 2 - City Escape because ROLLING AROUND AT THE SPEED OF SOUND.
Sonic Heroes - I know it wasn't on the Dreamcast, but I like incorperating it with the Adventure games. Anyways, I think BINGO Highway would be a great choice, as it's a new take on the casino/neon trope, with a kickass music track to boot.

    Modern Era (3 stages)
Sonic '06 - I dunno, I never played '06, but from what I watched, I'd be fine with either Wave Ocean or Kingdom Valley. If I had to choose one, I'd probably go Kingdom Valley, though.
Sonic Unleashed - Cool Edge. It's to make up for no Ice Cap, as it was basically Ice Cap HD. I was thinking we could have Modern Sonic go through similar to how he did in Unleashed HD, and Classic Sonic could go inside a glacier similar to Ice Cap and in Unleashed Wii/PS2.
Sonic Colors - I'd Really like to see Asteroid Coaster to be honest. It's a space trope, one not yet on my list, and I just love the level.

DLC Packs (I only have 1 thought up right now)
    Stronghold Pack:
    Scrap Brain
    Final Fortress
    Eggmanland

Not where I want to be.
Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
Actually, I quite like that list. I'd swap Asteroid Coaster with Planet Wisp, and City Escape with Final Rush/Chase personally but pretty good list.

Too bad speculating and hoping and wishing for these things won't amount to much. Someone should pull their finger out and just model these things themselves.

+ - Don't look at me. When have you seen me finish a damn thing?

As I think about it, I find myself getting more and more excited about Crisis City. It had my favorite music in Sonic 2006, and I thought it was the best stage in that game by a mile. I can't wait to see it done with the modern, working 3D sonic gameplay. I think that zone will wind up being a lot of people's favorite just for the setting.

Speaking of which, I hope it has a very dark setting, sort of like the bad future in Stardust Speedway Zone.

Well, they might use the Sonic & Knuckles Collection version of that song instead of the console version. Eh, won't like it, but I can deal with it (Well, the song isn't TOO bad. But not as great as the original, obviously).
EDIT - I need to try and make my own list later on tonight.

Did anybody figure out how exactly the combo-system works in the modern design? Seems like it's just "hammer every button" until you hit 8, then it completes. Is that all there is to it?

  6. I thought all that was confirmed relating to Launch Base was the inclusion of Big Arm as a boss. This wouldn't necessarily mean that Launch Base will be included as a full stage, seeing as how the HD version has bosses whose respective stages aren't in the game, like Egg Dragoon.

Looks like there may be another trial somewhere down the line -- changing a line in the application settings to Trial_Ver2 gives you a menu screen to select between Classic and Modern versions of Rooftop Run. Neither works, of course; the game just hangs.

EDIT: Took a picture of the menu:

Can you do that for Seaside Hill/Ocean Palace Classic and Modern?

Doesn't seem like it. Here's what the file gives you:
    Code (Text):
    1.     AppSetting_String("DemoKind", "Demo");        -- Production/Demo
    2.     AppSetting_String("DemoDistribution", "TGS");    -- PressTour/E3_Front/E3_Backyard/GamesCom/TGS/Trial_Ver1/Trial_Ver2
Here's what I've tried so far. Trial_Ver1 is what our demo is on by default.

Setting it to E3_Front or TGS gives you a menu screen to select the classic or modern GHZ. Selecting the classic gives you modern Sonic in classic GHZ. Selecting the modern gives you the modern level, and everything seems to work out okay. But regardless of what you play, once you beat a level, get kicked back to the menu, and try to play again, you won't be able to move Sonic without restarting the demo and rebooting it.

Trial_Ver2 gives you the screenshot I posted. Rooftop Run is selectable, but totally unplayable.

Changing the above string to Production and deleting the whole AppString about Demo Distribution gets you a full menu, with New Game, Continue, Network, and Options. The options menu includes a setting for Omochao and controller help. Continue tries to bring up a menu, but nothing appears. Network hangs the game entirely. New Game brings you to Classic GHZ with Classic Sonic, complete with a results screen. After that, some red text appears, something like "(Event)Play", probably for a video. Then the game tries to load another level, and hangs.

*Phew!* Yeah, this is pretty much all I've done today, haha.

  11. Can you make it do City Escape like this, because we KNOW the game data is there?

OK I finally played the demo and I am seeing some problems. When you are running fast, you can't just push down to spin like in the other Sonic games. This annoys me because I used to use that move all the time. The graphics are great, but for some reason it feels really weird controlling Sonic, like he has lead on him. Sonic 4 was a little floaty, but this game is like lead. I think the Genesis games were somewhere in between the two with their physics.

Is anyone else feeling this way about it?

I hate to say it but I almost like Sonic 4: Episode I's gameplay better than the demo for Sonic Generations classic Sonic level 1. What will make me still like this game even if the physics stay exactly the same is that it will be much longer than Sonic 4: Episode I.

I think they did the right thing trying to fix the physics even more, but they adjusted it a little too much IMO.

Incredible! Looks like we have more demo fun to come! I wonder what stuff we will find in version 2? Not unless its released a download add on for the original demo, and it just installs the new level?

If they just stuck Classic and Modern together... All the problems would be solved. Both Classic and Modern play well in Generations. I miss the bouncyness, and rollyness of classic sonic. It feels absent in this game.levels would be designed better if they were based on the original Sonics physics. More rolling about, comboing almost :)

Having played through the modern level many, many times now, I think I'm ready to comment on it.

I'm not gonna lie, guys. I think this is gonna be one of the best games in the series.

In full disclosure, I loved Unleashed. Liked it more than Colors, actually. I thought that while Colors had a lot more "daytime-style Unleashed" content, the levels just weren't designed as strongly. I mean, Colors was probably overall the much better game. It had a better story and no Werehog, afterall. (Though even the Werehog was MUCH better than he was made out to be.)

The modern GHZ is really, really fun. Unlike most of Unleashed, it has totally different divergent pathways, and way less bottomless pits. The design feels like a true meld of Unleashed's "run run run" style and the classics. There are times when I miss a grind jump and fall to the bottom path, which NEVER happened in Unleashed. The paths criss-cross, with many points where you can switch from one to another, and most of the level has two or three paths you can be on at any given time. If every level in the game has design this good... haha, this was gonna be my personal game of the year before, but now it's contending for freakin' game of the decade. XD

I also took a slower run of the level, and it is beautiful. One of my favorite parts comes right near the end, when you run through a stretch of land near the base of a waterfall, and there's mist rising up on either side of the path. You can see all sorts of things in the background, and the whole level feels very... weighty, I guess? There's clearly a lot going on around you.

Also, the drifting animation is pretty awesome. Sonic doesn't just spin into a drift, he does a little shorthop and lands spinning. Very appropriate for the character, I think.

Problems I noticed... in Unleashed, the second stick could turn the camera. No way to do that here. The 3D camera is EXTREMELY finicky if you want to try to go backwards. It clips through the land when you run up slopes and refuses to get behind you most of the time. Hopefully this gets ironed out before release.

I am surprised at you all for wanting Planet Wisp over Sweet Mountain. I mean, both of them are fantastic levels, but Sweet Mountain is just so unique.

So, apparently a special edition of the game is available for pre-order on xtralife.es

That's quite pricy, and I have no idea if the site is reputable. Nevertheless, there you go. I wouldn't mind a special edition with some cool bonuses, but I'd only be willing to pay $20 more. Not $140.

What kind of stuff would you guys like to see in a special edition?
