    At the resolution they were working at, could it honestly have been anything but a horizontal line?

    Artistically I don't think it looks bad, but I'm trying to avoid having the stem and petals seem like separate tiles for these things.

    I didn't mean it only because of the original graphics, it's just a bit out of perspective. The green part shouldn't look like it's at a different height by the sides.

    You both have valid points, but like this, it seems a bit CUT.

    Why not just add a darker shade to its lower part (taken from the darkest purple shade of spikey flower), to make it seems rounder on the connection?

    Went back and redrew the petals. And then redrew them again because the first try didn't turn out so well. These things have an awkward shape, and it doesn't help that they use five more pixels than they do in the first frame.

    Could you make a quick mockup of the exact shape you're thinking of? There are all sorts of variations on the classic angel wing shape, and I'm admittedly not at all sure how to go about adapting them to the current shape without ending up with something odd like the first two tries.

    Hmm, I thought the previous version was a good interpretation (one of many possibilities).

    Now that the petals' shape has changed in one frame, those in the other frame look too irregular to fit in the animation. =\

    Meanwhile, I've been assigned to the bush.

    I've got an idea for how I want to tackle the leaves, but first I'd like to get the trunk worked out.

    Shading at the top is going to wait until I get the leaves done, so I can do it properly.

    You guys really need to stop making the art like this... The art only was tons of blocks like that, because on a tv screen it looked like a transparent bush.

    Preaching to the choir, Jim. The first thing I did was load up Kega with the RF filter to get a good shot. I'll start using it for my comparisons when I actually start on the leaves.

    Yeah, I missed that you didn't do the leaves yet. My visions a bit blurry, because I was at the eye doctors, and they dilated my pupils, which makes your vision blur.


    Though still, I think this should be noted for other people so that stuff get's done correctly.



    I am liking the base of it though, looking nice.

    Geez, slow evening.

    Consider the following to be incomplete mockup work, as I try and figure out how to get the shading right. The squares are essentially placeholders.

    My first problem is that I'd like to have the translucent shading overlay the leaves and then have Illustrator cut out the gaps in between so the shading remains only on the leaves. This seems to be impossible.
