The legally dubious nature of contract work means that Sega is well in their power to not credit Rafa and get away with it. It's very likely not the fault of the developers either.

If I remember right, vanilla Origins code was that their "entries" existed, but all the code and assets were conspicuously scrubbed so nothing could recreate them. If there's so much as any playable code referenced or used in Origins Plus, that's a noticeable bump up.

Kind of a topic pivot, but has anyone heard any rumblings of save files getting corrupted by the Plus DLC? Yesterday my main Origins save started throwing a "Loading Error Failed to load your save data" message and quitting out of the game immediately.

It got pushed to my Steam Cloud too, so all the platforms I *could* play it on are now broken. And yet, I haven't actually seen much discussion about it. Maybe 1 or 2 threads over in the Steam forums - maybe it's a smaller error?

Devs are blamed way too much for mismanagment and publishers love it.

Sega was quite happy to throw Taxman and Headcanon blame when Mania was delayed on PC to implement extra DRM.

    Technical problem my ass.

Not only is the Plus content a digital code, but the cartridge contains version 1.5.0 of the game. You need to download version 2.0.0, which is a download of 438 MB. Another sign this release was poorly handled.

  6. What? I remember that release pretty well, and I don’t recall Sega ever doing anything like that. Stealth had that tweet complaining and there were reports Webber was annoyed at the decision. No one at Sega ever was like, “Blame the team.”

Edit: Okay, it wasn't as blatant as, "Oh, Taxman and Stealth put Denuvo in the game," but it was shitty. Sega said about the delay (from GameSpot):

"Sega shared the news during a livestream today, saying that the PC version is "going in for a bit more optimization." As a result, it's been pushed back two weeks and is now due out on August 29. "The team is working really hard to make sure it works on all platforms and on a lot of things to touch it up," Sonic community manager Aaron Webber said."

The fact SEGA remained radio silent during the whole affair only feeds speculation that they left Taxman and Headcannon to the wolves, for a time.
They didn't blame them directly, but they also didn't defend them when netizens pointed fingers and flames at them, so...

Why would they do that when all their games use devuvo for their initial release? Shouldn't it have been assumed by most normal people that SEGA added it to the game themselves, like with every other game they make?

Well, given the usual buzz from netizens around the world, I guess common logic ain't an usual thing nowadays... ^^"

But yes, many casuals and haters should think twice before blowing things out of proportion, sometimes for little to no reason.
There's more than enough proof that many games nowadays are doomed to be released in an incomplete state, with patches and updates in following months.
Heck, some companies may even be using that nowadays as a sort of public beta-testing, for all we may know or theorize.
But still, people raging because their hyped title doesn't live to their highest expectations of being a Game of the Year AAA title... I don't know...

I don't have much to say besides how disappointing the "DLC" was.

I might be misremembering, but the reason Stealth sent that tweet was because the official reason was the PC version required more development time (Denuvo integration, is technically "development time") but that implied that was due to the game developers themselves. Personally i saw it as "blame", in their corporate speak.

All points to be a last minute decision in case of Mania.
The store page didn't mentioned it in it's terms, and was one factor that pissed of lots of people. In typical Sega faction, the company gave Sonic 1 as an apology for those who pre-ordered... The game that was likely the most already owned by such type of customers.

  12. You know, that does sound familiar and is a bit sketch.

    Back to the actual game...

I've just encountered some kind of bug where you can't trigger the drop dash when jumping out of a roll going up a steep enough incline. At least that's what I've determined to be the cause. Go into Casino Night and jump off a halfpipe slope while rolling and try to trigger a drop dash. I can't do it to save my life.

Playing on Switch, running the latest update + DLC. Playing on Casino Night in story mode.

Edit: It functions fine on the boss battle. I noticed it on the slope below the flippers right before the final checkpoint in Act 2.

This tweet shows you how to get Ray and Mighty to load in Mania's Sonic 3&K Blue Spheres:
    https://twitter.com/LittlePlanetCD/status/1673469468960251907?s=20

Following the instructions, I can get this weird counter to load:

I was also able to get Sonic & Amy to load as a pair:

But I can't seem to get Ray and Mighty to load.

This is what I am doing on Nintendo Switch:
    1. Select Sonic 3 & Knuckles in Anniversary mode.
    2. Do the level select cheat and go to sound test.
    3. Set Amy as the character (using the X button)
    4. Select "Blue Spheres" and then immediately press left and X to change character.

    Any ideas?

    Working on my art!
I got Sonic & Sonic once doing that glitch lol, but yea I also got the weird numbers (which crashes the game if you jump btw)

There are so many ways to activate weird quirks in Origins. Continuing completed boss rush saves from prior to 2.0 in any game save for 3 results in some very strange effects.

I have to wonder if SEGA truly believes the Game Gear titles help justify the $10 DLC. Seriously, who is going to play half of these games for more than 5 minutes?

  17. Me too. I usually have to pull out my Vita to play the GG games portably, but that gets annoying. I haven’t given them much of a try yet, so unless they’re truly awful running, I’ll probably just play these versions.

I mean, that's less than a dollar per game. Sure, I don't like most of them and there are a myriad of things they could've and should've done to enhance them, but that + Amy + Savestates (which actually is an important enhancement that I didn't know they added) isn't an unreasonable price if you're into the idea of paying for them in the first place.

The Game Gear games would have been better if they added more features.
A rewind option is the standard for emulation these days, and it is sorely missed (especially given how annoying the GG games can be in places).

At the barest minimum, they should have given more than 1 save state slot. They also should have left in the ability to run more than 1 instance of each game to allow for a make shift 2P mode (like you could do in SADX) and also an option to change the screen size (like you could again do in SADX).

If they wanted to bring their A game, they should have included a level select option for each game (the UI displays a menu of levels and these simply load built in save states that take you to a level). You could use coins to unlock the levels in the level select. Maybe they could have included an option to start with 99 lives (again, they could use a built-in save state to achieve this). Including the Master System Roms (which would have used the same emulator), would have been welcomed.

As they stand, the GG games just feel like they are there to pad out the collection, so they can put a "16 games" label on the box.
The fact that SADX and Mega/Gems Collection has these games with more features is immensely disappointing.
