I thought the exact same thing (except I thought she got roboticized as well)!

I also remember misinterpreting Eggman to be Sonic's dad at one point. No idea how I came up with that.

I thought that if he Grabbers in Chemical Plant Zone caught you, that you couldn't get out of it's grip, no matter what.

Then, 3 years later, I got mad because I was out of rings near the end of act 2, and I started pressing everything on the controller and it let go of Sonic.

    'facepalm'

I grew up with a Game Gear and Sonic 2, so I used to think you could somehow dodge Robotnik at the end of Underground Zone if you timed it right, and go underneath the platform and attack the antlion thing from below, because it was near impossible to beat it the normal way.
I never did manage to beat that damn antlion >:C

    Nothing anymore
Years ago (talking 96-97...I was born 22nd Dec 1990 btw) my uncle showed me how to get to the level select screen of Sonic 1 by random mashing the directional buttons and if you were lucky (pressing the correct code) you would get it! None of my friends that had a Megadrive knew about the cheats so I could blag about it for a bit to them...XD
Only a few years ago when I started playing the games did I have the internet and access to the real cheat codes...

I always thought the platfoms in carnival night zone where lava too...plus in casino night zone you jump on burgers or chilli dogs.

On the subject of the infamous barrel of death, I REALLY don't know how you all had trouble with it....I managed it first time, pressing up and down just seemed natural as the thing was bobbing up and down anyway.

    Without wading through the thread...

Picture the scene, it's December 1992, you're 4 years old, your brother is about to defeat the Egg Mecha at the end of Death Egg Zone (which you mistakenly believe is the actual Death Egg)... then the phone rings.

Shit, your brother pauses the game and answers the phone. He's on it for 15 minutes. You think the game will break if you leave it on pause, so you switch off the console.

... I think I am the reason Sonic CD did end if you left the game alone for 3 minutes. :v:

  9. I've always wondered...

Why is there a huge carnival in the middle of Angel Island? Has it always been there, and if so how did Knuckles find the time to keep it in such good condition while also guarding the Master Emerald?

It seems to be the only zone that doesn't fit in with the rest.

Well let's not forget Sky Park in Sonic Rivals. Rivals 1 is set on Onyx Island, which is Angel Island in the future. Either it's always been there (much like other non-sense awesome in the series) or it's something that Robotnik built. He loves to indulge his inner child after all.

  11. I never played Rivals, since I don't even touch my PSP anymore.

But I'm surprised he'd have the time to construct Launch Base, make repairs to the Death Egg, and design and build a carnival loaded with badniks so he has something to do with what little spare time he may possibly have.

If he's not the one who built it, then the echidna tribe was very advanced for its time. Poor Knuckles, having to maintain it all those years...

    Hold on...

    Yeah, it works.

Oh, I may have described it wrong, sorry.

I mean press everything rapidly. Go nuts on the d-pad and buttons of the controller and you'll struggle out of it.

Actually, you only need to press left and right alternately and repeatedly, the same way you shake off the piranhas in Sonic 3.

    Oh. Huh.

Well, pressing everything seems to work better for me. Guess it's just preference that matters (although I'd prefer not to get caught in the first place).

My mind has just been fucking blown. How did I not know about this until now? I've owned this game since December of '92, and never knew this could be done. I always used to let them hit me or kill me, or hope Tails bailed me out.

TO THIS DAY I am reluctant to leave hardware on pause for anything more than a minute, so successfully did my parents condition me that a console will burst into flames if you take your eyes off it.

Same, and like many other people, I had no idea it was a balloon until reading this. Wow.

The first time I saw Knuckles, I thought he was a girl. Oops.

Don't know if this counts, but I also thought The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog was a good show for awhile, just because it had Sonic in it. Man, I was dumb as bricks when I was a kid.

Holy shit, me too. HOW MANY MORE DAMN SECRETS DOES THIS GAME HAVE? This, the duck-to-avoid-acid-in-eyes of the CPZ boss...

  19. Ohhhh...I thought you meant press everything at the same time, once.

Well, holy shit... I didn't know that either. Oh well, it's not like they tell you that you can do that in the manual or anything.

It's interesting that they use this technique for both those spiders and the piranhas - it's almost like it's part of Sonic's ability set. I mean, heck, if Sonic CD's US manual can list Super Grip, then rapidly pressing left and right can be the "Escape Dash", or something. :v:

Also - how many of us assumed that the grabby spiders from Flying Battery were harmful like the CPZ ones before we were forced to test them out and discovered that they were benevolent?

Guess I must be dumb as bricks, 'cos I still think it's a good show. :specialed:
