Just finished Sonic 2 for the first time today!

I simply could not not post this - I was playing Sonic 2, and I got to casino night, and I felt inclined to tell everyone on my IRC the story I had with Casino Night. Too lazy to re-write it, here it is directly from IRC:

 

Alright we fucking get it. Jesus Christ. I was making a ballpark estimate of how long it'd take to beat it because I'd never actually beaten Sonic 3 and Knuckles together.

 

That was directed at Sparks, not you, who was suggesting that the Special Stages take a significant amount of time to beat.

 

Ah well, I feel like a prick now. My bad.

Just you watch though, I'll somehow make a S3aK playthrough last 4 hours! :v:

 

You probably can, although it shouldn't take you that long at all.

EDIT: In fact, even if you take the full 10 minutes on all acts, it'll take 4 1/2 hours to complete the game.

 

I haven't finished Sonic 2 with the good ending (stupid special stages), but I have got the bad ending. Well, any Sonic 2 like special stage I run into problems.

 

They do get rather tough pretty early on, but once you've got them memorized, they're cake.

 

Does it really matter how long someone takes to beat Sonic 3 & Knuckles? Fastest I've done it is 88 minutes without emeralds. Slowest? 3 hours and change without emeralds. It's truly a brilliant game where you can just explore and see what you can do with certain parts of the different levels.

 

Reading this thread makes me feel hardcore because I have completed all the classics with all emeralds, all characters, thousands of times. S1, S2, S3, S&K, S3K, S2K, SCD, KC, S1GG, S2GG. I can't believe so many of you haven't.

 

That's the only one I haven't completed with all emeralds, and it really annoys me.

 

I first did it when I was eight, CEZ blew my mind. The real bitch is in SHZ, you have to know what clouds to bounce on.

 

No Sonic Chaos or Sonic Triple Trouble?

 

Sonic Chaos is my favorite GG game. Triple Trouble is good too. Love the boss music on the train zone.

Yeah, I'm currently working on Sonic 2. Currently stuck on Oil Ocean. :/ I can't get past that thing for one reason or another. :v:

 

I cannot beat Sonic 2 with all the emeralds because it takes me like 10 tries to beat each special stage after the third one.

 

It took me 9 years to beat Sonic 2 without cheat codes, and I did it with Tails =P Good job though, that final boss was a bitch back in the day (Not anymore though)

 

Wow guys, I do not remember of ever thinking that Sonic 2 was a game that hard. I do remember, however, that I died a lot in the Wing Fortress boss, and especially in the last boss of the game (no rings FTL). But by then, I've had so many lives and continues that I always ended up making it through.

 

I could never beat Sonic2 GG. Lost alot of lives in scrambled egg zone with the random tunnels and gave up as a kid. Now, too lazy to replay it

 

I've beaten Sonic 2 with all the emeralds maybe...3 times.
Usually I get all the emeralds by Metropolis so I don't get to enjoy Super Sonic that much. Sonic 3K I've beaten 2 or 3 times. Only once with all of the emeralds. All this counting my non cheating runs of course.

 

On most playthroughs I manage to get at least two emeralds in GHZ Act 1.
