You're getting way too hopeful. Sonic Team said they're improving Sonic one step at a time.

 

What about people that don't like Sonic?

 

They're probably going to do seven zones (one for each emerald) and an extra final battle. That's pretty much what they have been doing after Sonic Pocket Adventure when they used that kind of level structuring.

Or maybe the zones will finish right after the boss is beaten.

I wouldn't expect the soundtrack to sound anything like the old games. Probably they'll make a vague attempt to do something similar (like in Sonic Level Creator), but nothing more.

I wouldn't count on that.

Sorry for bursting your "attempt to guess" bubble, but knowing Sega, they'll probably do something like that.

 

You shouldn't be playing a game called "Sonic the Hedgehog" then, I'm afraid.

 

I'm guilty of this as well, I need to tone down my expectations a lot.

I think it's wonderful though a good number of us are actually excited about a Sonic game again, and it's something we actually want this time!

I believe SonarDragon is referring to sonic as a specific character, not a franchise.

I enjoy Shadow's levels from SA2, but I don't like Shadow.

All I have to say is amen to that. It'd be like living the 90's all over again! It'd be awesome.

 

When a franchise centers around a specific character, one might wonder why you would want to become a fan of said franchise.

 

For all the other wonderful characters like Cream the Rabbit, Charmy Bee, Silver the Hedgehog and don't forget characters from the comic books

Why, there's Knuckles' younger brother "Kneecaps", Monkey Khan, Barbie Koala, Merlin Prower and hundreds more wonderful and memorable characters

Well, Mario 64 DS was guilty of making you start with a character to unlock one you like...

except it was Yoshi, who sucked all kinds of ass, and Mario needed to be unlocked.

I see no problem as starting with Sonic. Never gave much of a damn about Tails anyway. He was only good for getting in the way but was mostly useless, one or two times aside (this includes serving as a meat shield.)

 

I liked SM64DS BECAUSE it started with Yoshi, I don't like Mario either. But, whatever.

 

Tails does have an use though: he could carry Sonic to otherwise unreachable areas in S3K -- although besides that indeed he is pretty useless most of the time...

 

God damn you I laughed.

 

Paths that no one ever really bothered to take anyway, so it's more a gimmick than anything. Sonic can plow through levels on his own perfectly fine. Once you gained Super and Hyper status, Sonic doesn't need him at all.

I wonder if we'll get a decent sonic & tails play mode. =P
