Actually, I can't bring back the plants. They are dead forever thanks to global warming I've ran out of palettes.

Not like I can't try, though...

*launchs soned2 and tries to restore*

    EDIT:Ahhh, I'm so lazy. It's just a question of reshading the 16x16.

I can be so lazy sometimes. =P

    EDIT2:Aaaand the plants are back.

Oh .. Well, we can't have everything in life, right? Without it, I think that the floor is a little weird. If you can't put it back again, maybe you can improvise with the graphics you already have, and create a new type of ground. Something like this, perhaps?

Made in paint just now, but you get the idea! Actually I don't know much about hacking, so perhaps this suggestion is even more laborious. If so, ignore completely!

    EDIT:
Oh, I didn't see your second edit. Lol. Forget everything above. :P

99.9% of computer problems are not caused by hacking. What you're describing sounds like a data truncation issue, which isn't that uncommon. It's less frequent on journalling filesystems such as NTFS or EXT2/3/4 versus FAT12/16/32, but can still happen.

I would suggest using a version control system of some sort in the future, such as svn or git, in addition to regular backups.

All credits for this goes to HPZMan, for being awesome enough to make me this menu and fix a bug I had with the spike bug toggling.

After quoting the post and pasting the url into the address bar......I'd re-upload the pic, doesn't seem to load.

I can see the second one, and ironically, the original has shown it's face.

    Looks sweet.

I know this is pedantic, but can't you change "SPIKE BUG ON/OFF" to "SPIKES S1/S2".

I think by now we have established it's not a bug.

However, it's known widely as the spike bug. Doesn't matter if it is or isn't as it's not something life changing (for us, not Sonic).

    Working on my art!
I think we all realize this by now, but it's been called the spike bug for so long why can't we just keep referring to it as such. When I say spike bug, I'm not referring to it as a glitch, rather the action itself.

Are you two trying to advocate the use of an improper term just because it's familiar? Are... are you serious? That's the worst reasoning I've ever heard! If anything, its familiarity is a problem--people are so used to the term that it's like second nature, almost like Dust Hill Zone was when we thought it was an old name for Mystic Cave. We should make a strong effort to combat this habit, not embrace it.

    being an asshole =P
It's still shorter to write :P

That said, is there any advantage to having the Sonic 1 spike behaviour, really? :/

    Yes.

Some people like it. Like me.

*changes "SPIKE BUG" to "SPIKE BEHAVIOUR", and adds the "S1" and "S2" options, making the ON/OFF unused for now*

Sure is; depending on the nastiness of the layouts, it's basically an effortless way to make a Hard Mode.

No, it's called "giving the player the chance of customize whatever he wants, considering it can be changed at the menu".

And making a Hard mode shouldn't be that hard (unless if it includes dynamic layouts for each difficulty, then it's fucking hard).
