Yes, however, maybe we could use some alternative versions for zones like, who knows... oh well, that'll be late in the developement progress.

 

If Eggman's robots aren't going to look severely weathered, I'm not too certain it should be done with the spikes.

 

Perhaps they should be, then? =P

Even if it's chosen not to have them weathered, giving them simply a basic metallic look could work to. There is metal out there that has a perfectly clean look to it, sure, but that isn't all metal. It may just be, however, that these spikes look best without anything done to them past their current look.

Well there is a bit of an anti-aliasing problem with the spikes in that picture.

 

Guys, let's move any further spikes discussion on the Concept Thread, and get back on the Monitor base fixes so to get it animated asap. ^^

 

I don't see why the thing between the buttons needed to be changed for something that looks uneven and... just not good.

I'r rather have either the old rectangle with SONIC in it, or perhaps even an actually readable string like "SEGA".

 

Perhaps a relevant question which needs to be asked is, "Who created these monitors?" If Robotnik created them, perhaps his Eggman logo could be in the center, just a thought. But why would Robotnik give Sonic these items? Is it possible Robotnik enjoys the battle? He obviously has some level of admiration for Sonic, since he continually builds machines in his image. Do we know it is even a logo? Could it be a built in vhs? Just some thoughts...

 

I always thought that the only reason for the monitors' existence was because the videogame gods commanded them so.

 

AND ON THE FIFTH DAY, Platformicus demanded to have random items scattered across the games, from the greenest of hills to the deepest of lava pits. And he saw it was good.

Anyway, it really doesn't matter what it says below the box. If Flare wishes some recognition, that's fine by me. Just bring the blackish rectangle back. It indeed looks uneven.

I like the text. Flare TV's sound kinda catchy. Who's gonna really know anyway. It a pointless debate on what the text should say because you can't read the text in the original anyway. It would be like going down the path by debating if Robotnik's underwear is Calvin Klein and therefore should have the CK logo.

 

You missed the posts where we pointed out how it just looked a little better before the (unneeded) change. It's not necessarily about what the text says.

It would indeed be possible to put some readable text in there.

 

I don't get the thing about the unneeded change...

anyway, the text was always just a place holder until I got a good suggestion, I like the idea of SEGA since it makes sense considering SEGA leave little hints of themeless around the place e.g. Casino Nights, but if people liked the thing used before, which I didn't understand what it was, then I can easily change it to that.

 

The older text was "Sonic", which I'd like to see restored in a readable manner. (or using "S2HD" too, as CK suggested)
Don't forget to complete the fixes to the monitor's base, returning as the above longer shape!


P.s. The only place we'll show any SEGA word will be on the disclaimer for obvious reasons, therefore I ask everyone the courtesy to please hold off into embedding any SEGA writings on art! ^^

 

What about replacing SEGA with S2HD? I definitely want to see a neon light version of the project name in CNZ. Everyone on staff is looking forward to seeing how that zone turns out more than just about any other at this point.

 

What about giving it a random label for each monitor?

Multiple suppliers = Competition = Low Low Prices

 

Yeah you could always put "Rings" under the 10 ring monitor, "Shield" under the shield one, "1up" under the extra life one etc. etc.

personally I think "Sega"'s the better way to go though. The company that produces televisions/monitors tends to put their name there, Sega were the ones who originally produced those monitors so yeah.

 

Honestly, I'd rather have a version that uses this background instead. In fact, so much so, I did it myself - quick Gimp job :P



The dimensions are a little weird, but whatever. I'll look at the source later and see if I can get a bigger version.
Edit: Nope, it doesn't get any bigger - as for this, it won't stretch much at all on a screen with the right ratio.
