This game is compatible with SD-Boot, with minor sound issues and some crashing. Forgive the capture card quality, I didnt optimize it at all and I didn't want to run this in dolphin
This is incredibly awesome. Not only is it new art, but the gamecube kept VMU graphics instead of Memory Cards? Silly placeholders. :P
HOW TO USE DEBUG: 1. Hold the X button down, the following menu will come up Press the start button You are now a placeable ring Controls are as follows: L and R move up and down Start + B to place Start + A to latch on to the nearest item and pick it up A+D-Pad to cycle through items D-Pad to move direction Start+L to zoom out Start+R to zoom in Start+X to move cursor to the immediate ground below Start+Left stick to change camera angle A+B will set Action Mode available actions are Place, for placement, Multi, which Im not sure of, and System, which toggles the data type between "Common Set" and "Player Dependent Set" While in system, you can exit debug mode by pressing A+X If you're Sonic, you'll enter a mode where you can move sonic anywhere on the map. Commands are: Left stick, to move Sonic across the X and Z planes X+Left stick, to move sonic across the Y axis More to come. For anyone trying to play this game, do NOT load English text, it will crash the game at certain points
Holy shit, a proper debug mode! I spent ages looking for something like that in the PC version IIRC, and only found a couple of bits and peices.
I really wish they had kept the "water" Sonic Team logo - that was really neat in the original But hot damn: DEBUG mode. It's like 2D debug, but in 3D. Imagine going anywhere we'd like in Sonic Adventure.. Thanks for the info. Makes me wish I had the proper equipment. Are you planning on posting any videos of this in action, Saz?
I can do so, but if anyone desires I can in fact set up a live stream of myself playing the game, anyone interested?
My guess is you wouldn't suggest doing that unless you wanted to do that. =P So go ahead and make it so!
Don't think streaming would be a good idea for most people. I'm still downloading the Gamecube torrent, I don't want to stop it for anything. It'd be better to record a video instead. And you could put it on CulT if you wanted to too.
Note: One item in this game will crash upon display when scrolling through debug. The item is named H Skau. Other than that I don't know what it is or what it does. This game is EXTREMELY easy to break via debug, crashes all around, just a word of warning
The Z trigger has some strange function to fuck with the palletes in this game. Example: After pressing Z you get this Im not entirely sure what this function is for, but I believe it's related to debug mode Note the white invisible walls After pressing Z, they become black and more noticable.
Another thing to note in this game, notice the textures on the station, street and sidewalk have been updated in this area, this isn't across the whole game. Example: This area is still using SA1 textures. Also, in regards to this area, I tested a few glitches seen only in SADX, none of them worked. The collision engine apparently hasn't been messed with yet.
I'll try it as soon as I get my cube back, I'll stream it via BBA, anyone has the proper tools for this? I have some old ones, dunno if newer versions were released. The "fuck the palettes "option set them almost as they were on dreamcast. Maybe we could mod a retail game to include this debug option. The Vmu stuff means that probably the sadx was originally planned for dreamcast, don't you think? That VMU select screen wasn't on the original.
I heard on the internet that there was a tool called Pheonix or something which allowed streaming games over BBA, I haven't tried it since I normally run my games normally and use homebrew on PSOload
I feel a little stupid saying this, but... Is anyone hosting a mirror for this game? Or isn't there any mirrors yet?
Yeah, I had an old version, already got the new one thanks. And about this theory I posted above, maybe there are some dreamcast leftovers on this one ( binary files or something ) I'll check that out, anyway we'l be able to domore as soon as the dreamcats prototypes are out. I'd like to build a sonic adventure DX for dreamcast, I'm pretty sure the dreamcast can handle the new characters "skins"
