I didn't think I'd even consider buying and playing Episode 2, but it looks like it's in the cards. The handful of improvements they've made over Episode 1 seem to be decent enough.. I mean the levels look pretty swell and the music is ok. A lot of things are noticeably different right from the get go, so it's obvious more effort was put into making this. I'm assuming the Final Build is in a better shape than Beta 8, but we can only hope so.
Off topic to the point of this post but man I do love those special stages. Also isn't it kick ass that they did two entirely different soundtracks and both of them knocked it out of the park? (IMO anyway)
Spoiler A lot of Sonic 2 music used that one mute trumpet, so.. I hardly see how the instrument matters. It matters in how it's used.
I don't mean to be snarky, but it's not like the compositions are nearly as complex and soul-crushingly hard to transcribe as Elmer Bernstein or something.
Welcome to the party, you're about two days late :P As for music, it's good to see there's at least decent tracks mixed in with the "eh" ones this time Spoiler Dang, Death Egg and Flying Fortress Act 2 are gorgeous, I'm looking forward to hearing improved instrumentation implemented. As for the level design, it's nice to see its received an overall uplift this time around, and while the improvements are still not up to par with Generations, it seems like they have been improved. Spoiler Now we just need more Flying Fortress level design throughout the game and we'll have a winner. I was hesitant to consider picking it up, but after seeing this, I'll definately be considering purchasing it from Steam. I'm just hoping for better implementation of Tails if we ever see an Episode 3 rather than a necessary mechanic for getting through levels, which really is the most disappointing thing I've seen, save for the spring-trail happiness.
Considering Jun's love of slap bass and how easy that is to get an approximation with FM chipsets, I'm actually pretty amazed that there hasn't been at least -some- usage of it in S4E1/E2.
Thanks for making this! I used it to remix the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7NoFenaBB0 (Download.)
Sonic 4's Website got updated with info on Oil Desert Zone. Although technically we now know everything about the damn game, so this is now useless. :specialed:
So, if all the iOS devices are using the same version, could that any indication that Sonic will no longer look like this? Spoiler Freaking hideous.
I'm probably just asking for it by saying this, but... from what I've seen of Sky Fortress Zone on Youtube, this game isn't the irredeemable mess that everyone is making it out to be. Music and targeting system aside, it has its moments. Fine it's not a classic Sonic game. Yes, it definitely is straining credulity calling it Sonic "4" - however its not a terrible homage to the trilogy. If it was called Sonic & Tails, we probably wouldn't be holding it to such a high standard. Episode 2 actually looks promising compared to other recent Dimps entries. Can't we just accept that its an improvement over Episode 1, and not react in horror to every spoiler that gets released.
So for those who have played it / watched previews... Is it fair to say that this is a longer/more satisfying game than Episode I? From what I've seen, the levels are longer, there's more variety in gameplay between acts, the special stages are more difficult, etc. Would I be correct in assuming that instead of this being a 45 minute to an hour long game, it's more of an hour to an hour and a half? Maybe two hours? I hope I'm not getting my hopes up.
